Our theories on raiding make me think they will be more along the lines of fighting a Zelda or Metroid boss. I'm ok with this as I think those kinds of fights are more fun and also showcase skill more than tank n spank. Traditional mmo raiding is fun and all, but I think this more dynamic and reactive kind of raid should have a chance to be perfected as well.

Imagine each subclass has its own varying abilities and movement skill like LoL, now throw those abilities into a boss fight from a 3rd or 1st person perspective.. Sounds pretty cool to me, especially if different classes perform better or worse in that particular battle. Oh my wizard got roflstomped because of these falling boulders, maybe I'll try the rogue or ranger cause they're light on their feet. Too many projectiles for my shaman? Better swap to a shield using pikeman with a roll ability.

Who knows, I think the possibilities are intriguing.

Yes, I fucking hate cartoons in a MMO was same in wow betas hated it but cause the game was so addicting lots of content, raids loved it despite that.

Having been around the block, in these circumstances I try to keep an open mind. I assume the game will be less than compelling and wait until some taste of beta. From the beta, I try to frantically ascertain if the game is worth the time. Some of the ideas are interesting. I have little faith the execution will be there. But, I do like surprises. I must be in the minority that enjoyed GW2's lack of a true trinity. Gathering a group of competent people and rolling shit, modestly depending on makeup, was a nice.

Whats funny? 4-5 year old machines when the game releases 2 years from now? So you might be able to play on LOW settings if the game comes out next year or after that if you have built your computer recently. ? Is that a group setting you will be ok? Or with 100 ppl? Are you the guy that goes on the raid and lags out? Probably. What are you even talking about? CPU's arnt taxed by games? No game maxes out your internet connection? LOL not even worth responding too.
Average internet connection these days amongst gamers I'm seeing quoted as 10Mb/s - most intense game I'm seeing on the market today is pulling 500kb/s from Googling around. We're just starting to pass up dial-up for how much bandwidth gets used up - and very few gamers have anything within miles of a dial-up connection anymore.

And considering to play ANY PC games a 4-5 year upgrade cycle has been the norm - sometimes as low as TWO YEARS in some eras of PC gaming (like the years around Y2K - good luck having a playable rig without a 1-2 year update! Voodoo, Voodoo 2, Voodoo 3 almost released yearly - fun times...)... Not to mention they said "kickass and "working on 4-5 year old machines" in the same breath - not just passable like you imply with low settings....

Not that it matters to me personally, since I keep my machine at monster levels - but still.

They haven't really touched on PvP, at all. But if they are going for zones of control, and real PvP conflict, ala EvE, then a no-role system will probably work fine--because in that case, PvE will be more like UO. So the point of PvE won't be to take down bosses because they are hard, but rather because they are a kind of resource that fights back--and the point of killing them isn't an accomplishment, but rather gathering their drops (And denying other guilds.)---Again, like UO.

If that's the case, it lends itself well to ARPG type combat, like Diablo 2. Which means this is fine. But from everything said, it sounds like they want a more robust PvE game--and I say this because BoE doesn't really belong in that kind of sandbox, efficiency based game. So if they have BoE it pretty much denotes mobs will drop loot, and be difficulty based.

Here is a clue for you. Nobody is going to make another MMO that had the mechanics of EQ1 vanilla again. WOW killed that market by catering to casuals and the millions of players who grew up on WOW would never put up with the real risk of corpse loss, corpse recoveries in general, deleveling and the plethora of other hard core game mechanics that we all look back on fondly. The market is just not there to support that type of game. And no MMO team is going to take that type of game on again especially with all of the MMOs that have crashed and burned lately. So, have fun poopsocking it up on P1999 because that is as close as you are going to get to once again playing the MMO of your dreams.

See you in EQNext!

The game design is epic just like eq1 if you don't get that you're a moron. Will they pull it off...

Pls try to keep up with the times. Most people have 100mb connections if you don't you need a new isp. Try charter.

you just contradicted yourself. you begin by saying that specific class roles are bad, but end in describing how they are good (interdependency!) if everyone has the same spells and buffs, then you don't NEED each other.
I said trinity sucks. I didn't say classes can not be unique in design.

Not saying it's a need - it's clearly important to SOE with SOEmote. I've messed with SOEmote in EQ2 and it seems completely impossible to decipher because of the features being realistic in proportion - the art direction fixes that "issue".

I don't think SOEmote or emote quality is a big deal myself. But if they're going to be utilized properly, that's the character models it needs to work right. I'm the kind of person who does a real emote in game once a month maybe - I find expression in words more meaningful. But for those people cybering someone or whatever they'll have a blast with it with easy to translate expressions.
Look I fucking hate SOE Mote, But my GF loves it and most of the females in our Eq2 guild do.
For Next launch since they are pushing SOE Mote so hard as feature they are assuming a lot of players will a like it, and B be either playing on laptop or Xbox one with camera , or ps4 eye.
Most of us PC gamers play on our desktops so we wont have a camera or care about one etc.

I have a kick ass gaming laptop but as good as it is, I would never use it over my gaming desktop I built, why cause my desktop has more ram, faster, 3 Video cards etc.
Most of us here on the boards would bet there main pc for gaming was a desktop would venture to guess that most of the SOE games players use a gaming desktop or desktop most of the time over latop.
My point is all us that prefer our gaming desktops will find the SOE mote useless, don't see players going out to buy cameras for there desktops for this stupid feature.

Like I said my GF loves the SOE mote shit, and so do almost all the women in our eq 2 guild, so guess its aimed at the women and kids they will expect more to be on laptops, and the xbox one has the camera, and ps4 you can buy the eye camera for it.

Cheers.

psy 101? did your counselor just sign u up for that bro in the fall? Cool... do some hmm humanities on google and look up noob.
Nearly 40 - haven't stepped a foot in a college in almost two decades now. (Graduated in 94 with a MSHRM - of which some minor psychology is beneficial for obvious reasons [and yes before anyone comments - your math is right - I started college early turned 17 shortly after I started - was born days before the cutoff for school age and I had a grade skip - being a blonde who looked even younger than I was the Doogie Howser references were too damn common...])

Point is, people always feel that their feelings are more than they actually are - because they'll see "more" of people on their wavelength, either by conflating level of concern ("this person had a complaint, they hate it too!") or simply noticing those that align with their views at a greater rate or being more inclined to group with birds of a feather.

Please explain how going into 30 mobs and everyone spamming aoe shit and you cant even see your toon because theres so many 10hp mobs makes anything epic. If anything it reminds me of wow dungeons with everyone constantly moving forward. You blink to load a bowl and every ones halfway through the dungeon. Am I going to play it.. no shit. Am I expecting it to be like gw2 for me where soon as everyone cookie cutters and then get bored.. probably. Anyway thanks for the updates, did you ask any of my questions lol? Whats the deal with RAID LOOT AND RMAH? SOUNDS SICK?

Kind of annoyed theres no trinity. Like we previously said, itll end up diabloish.

Was really hoping for no more ''dont stand in fire'' being used has a ''clever'' encounter mechanic. Oh well, will see how it evolves and will let the more vocal ones do the yelling to try and get the devs on the right track.

Selection bias is a statistical bias in which there is an error in choosing the individuals or groups to take part in a scientific study.[1] It is sometimes referred to as the selection effect. The phrase "selection bias" most often refers to the distortion of a statistical analysis, resulting from the method of collecting samples. If the selection bias is not taken into account then certain conclusions drawn may be wrong.
