My guess is that when Blizzard caught wind of what SOE was doing with EQNext, they decided they'd pull back Titan for the meantime since for now they can continue reaping the fruits of WoW. When the time is right they'll put out a much more polished version of World of EQNextCraft. Just as they took Everquest and polished it with some specific changes to create WoW, they'll take EQNext and learn from SOE's mistakes once again. Why? Cause they can.

What does this mean on SoE's end? They can't afford to pull another EQ2. Don't release the game until it's ready to be released, until it's really completed, working as intended, and fun.
I think blizzard realized titan was a steaming pile and they are pretty pissed they had to delay it for a few more years at massive cost.

I have a feeling that EQ3 or whatever they want to call it will come-
I think this is quite possible. It seems like an obvious move because it's cheap. I do think the fans shouldn't wait. Do a freaking letter writing campaign. But shit like "EQN sucks" isn't helpful - as I said, it'll be huge and I really think PvPers will love it. I think a: if we build the world it in Landmark will you make E3? campaign is better.

I'm personally going to the next fanfaire and demanding Innoruuk's return.

They have to change this for EQN. The EQN team's worst decision, someone needs to start feeding the lore team only bread and water until the rewrite the lore to include Inny.

I would be onboard if we as a community, Rerolled, P99, EQC, and others actually came together and produced some content for an EQ3 or EQHD.

Would Sony listen? That's a whole other question.

I suppose a corollary to this would be the crackability of the content creator. Could we create our own custom content for our pirated servers? That would indeed be an interesting idea.

aside from rallying calls, have they hinted at what the content will be like? without conventional raids and item drops, is there going to be enough content to last months, years?

I agree with you that constructive criticism and discussion will not hinder the process. I'll even contribute: remove universal double-jump entirely, or except as an ability gained from a magical item or skill.
What double jump thing? If the reference is the character movement video with them running in Ashfang, that is explained in the keynote as Boots of the Zephyr that allows them to float. If you are talking about something else or another video I didnt notice it.

There's double jumping, they show then doing it across gaps.

When they show off the parkour movements in another video they display double jumping, vaulting, etc.

One thing I loved about EQ was zones like Unrest and Mistmoore. With everything being destructible in this game does it mean that there is no hope for cool zones like haunted houses, etc where there is secret passages etc? Is that a limitation when basing an engine on voxels?

There are static raids and dungeons.
There is authored content (the get the relic from the mine example) which are EQN's version of static quests

Otherwise:
PvP (Non-FFA, Possibly Evelike, Possibly SOE will pick some percentage of the Tier 5 areas of the continent and say FFA PvP in these Tier 5 areas, no PvP elsewhere including other Tier 5 areas).
Crafting
Dungeon Delving (Dig down until you find a randomly placed resource or POI - Temple POI example)
StoryBrick Questing (Your behaviors in game generate dynamic quests based on your interaction with NPCs in the world)

On that note too, secret passages, holes in the ground. Is it all static(so if you want to find boss XX that drops this gear or for that achievement) is his cave in a certain spot, or is it a matter of just getting lucky with RNG and the next hole/secret passage you make has the guy you need?

In the QandA they mentioned shop keepers not open at night, but perhaps shady types would be. I'm in your camp on this. Give me a 24 hour quicky mart.
Depends on how they set up the day/night cycle and how exactly dealing with the shady types works. I like me some immersion so npcs actually going home and stuff has me intrigued (might piss me off once I have to deal with it though). I was ok with it in Skyrim.

There's static content. Areas of authored content won't be destructible or only limited destructibility or very rapid "healing" (return to area base state) based on the needs of the AC. So they could build LGuk and either: 1. Make it entirely non-destructible. 2. Make it so you can destroy a lot of it (build tunnels, etc) but make particular rooms indestructible. 3. Make it destructible but heal at a very rapid rate so the tunnel you build from one room to another (instead of using the hallway) closes in after you.

I was watching the EQ Next: Class Panel @ SOE Live 2/2 posted by curse entertainment and during the Q/A around the 8:30 mark I think something slipped out. The question was about multiclassing and if you could have a rogue, warrior, cleric, and wizard ability mapped for your 4- and the gut response from the panel was "Secondary abilities?" and then backtracked into yes you can have an ability from different class types. Maybe the 4 class abilities and 4 weapon abilities isn't the whole story.
Passive abilities would make sense and allow for the classes to be more diverse than just skill restrictions.

I disagree, I think EQN has the potential to stretch story lines out for years. Rallying calls can be extremely easy to conceptualize, and they only really need to implement the seed and the world is supposed to take it from there. They could easily plan out years of city building and slow enemy rises culminating in big events.
I think the most interesting thing will be how far they take EQ:Next:Landmarks and the content that they allow added to the main game. Right now, it mainly just sounds like it's going to be structures, but what if they eventually get to the point where you can create quests and events?

Authored content appears to be semi-static. They gave the example of the relic. The relic is always there but whoever controls the relic may change based on groups in the area. POI are semi-static in that from the discussion it appears they're going to have the same mobs. However, the POIs currently move when there is an "Earthquake."

(Earthquake is a term I heard a dev use for when a subterranean area is re-procedurally generated and all the various player made tunnels are destroyed).

The ultimate goal for a gaming company, player-base makes all your content(we have Landmark and player studio) and then they pay for it :p
