The purpose of this game is PvE.
-Quests (Authored Content)
-Progressing Storyline (Rallying Calls)
-Exploring regenerating content (Digging into the ground)
-Hanging out with NPCs and developing relationships with them (SB Dynamic Content)

Collecting classes is one method of advancing your character, in addition to collecting items and abilities for your current class and doing things (quests) that generate xp for tiering up your class.

It hasn't been stressed enough but when you get a class, or even a starting class, you only get a subset of your total abilities. Maybe just 4. And you've go to go out and collect the other class abilities.
So, by chance, this is extremely similar to a new necro on EQ only getting a few spells in the beginning but this time you actually have to invest in your character a bit besides getting the ding? Similar to the spells that you needed components to make? Wow, who made that kiddie game?

You mean, we actually may have a choice in what abilities we use? Ugh, who wants options? A living world we can influence? What have these guys been thinking?

I'm not saying they can do this but exactly who in this market has a sterling record here? Blizz? Sony? Mythic? What exactly are the options? Kickstarter? Seriously?

Turn off the audio and just look at the guy on the right. He is funny and drunk. He keeps looking around, completely in his own little world while others are talking. Just look at his eyes and face. You can see his inner dialogue about his water bottle. Here? No, here. No, back again.
That's Darren McPherson/Talisker/Lead Designer. He was drunk at the pool party and four of us ambushed him. I swear Georgeson came over and pulled him away eventually because he was afraid Darren would reveal too much. Definitely the most approachable guy on the EQN team at SOELive.

It is a horrible concept. I only play online games while watching trading charts...so makes no difference to me ultimately.

Again, Pokemon. You can work on making your little anime lizard into a big dragon or you can go collect more types of Pokemon--I mean classes. But there is also an additional layer of gearing for further augment the classes. So it's kind of like a persistent league of legends game, IF league placed more emphasis on finding champs=power.

In the end though, finding classes is going to be roughly equivalent to leveling in other games. It's just a different kind of power increase.
You are forgetting the MTG element and focusing too much on Pok?mon.

They made it clear that some items you found would completely change your strategic possibilities. Like playing with or without five Moxen and a Lotus in your deck.

Call it what it is: Diablo 3 Affix RNG all over again. But this time, it's affixes for 40+ classes!

I hope that on EQNL launch day the community comes together and starts a project to fully recreate every favorite dungeon from EQ. Upvote them and petition Sony to put them into the world. Would be great.
Is the goal to make EQ3 dungeons (exact replicas) or to make ones for this new story which is apparently several hundred years before EQ (dungeons but de-aged several hundred years).

I've been thinking a bit about what you'd need to change to EQ dungeons to make them "old." So like, is Old Guk now New Guk, and it's outside? Or is it still buried? Is Unrest now a super cool mansion with a bunch of rich fucks, or is it just a field? Is Najena around, but only 2 floors? Solusek's Eye just a bunch of half assed tunnels because the gnomes haven't moved in yet?

I get a Diablo vibe as well from the pregenerated stuff. Not so much from the SB/RC stuff.

Was it Ukerric or Lithose or Lenas who called it EQNdiablolcraft ?

I wish I'd quoted that.

Except you have no evidence or even hint that the loot will be randomized in any way.
I was just thinking of the regenerating dungeons down below. Tiny suggestion seems to be random loot for those guys (pure speculation) and itemized loot for the authored content/RCs. We'll see.

Easiest way of handling it would be to have global loot tables for procedurally generated content based on tier. Problem solved.

You poor? Otherwise no reason to rage at Logic Claus. If you didnt like the truth I left in your poopsock...try not to be so gullible next time.
Simply a response to you admitting that your presence in this thread is useless.

For loot? From what little they showed us, I was getting the impression that gear would be almost the exact opposite. Since they can't fall back on just adding +5 strength to an item and calling it a day, they're almost going to have to come up with items with more memorable effects, which might bring that aspect of the game back into line with eq1 somewhat.

I've bought a lot of Pokemon cards for my sons :p the card game works like that, as far as I know, where having extra cards can change how you combo certain abilities. It would be like Magic, if magic emphasized just creatures more. The reason I keep saying Pokemon, is because getting skills, is based off finding classes AND because tiering is like evolving those skills.

So if I want to do this sweet triple offense combo. I might need 1.) A class with three offense slots. 2.) A class with a weapon that works with the combo. 3.) A class with leather so I can put my -10% offensive cost+10% "successive" offensive proc (+10% damage per each offensive cast in a row, or something, up to 4.) Making sure the class is Tier 3 to use the t3 item.

I do wonder though if "tiering" up will also allow me to augment skills. Like if I'm a tier 3 of the above the class, do I put points into skills like LoL? If so, do all skills eventually "max" or do I choose some? It's pretty interesting.

But anyway, rambling. The closest game that this mimics, for me, is Pokemon, just because of how you can tier up classes. If it was a "flatter" horizontal game, it would remind me more of MTG (Where it's basically all about the cards and what combos you can use).

4 posts and 3 negs isn't a great indicator of 'truth' qwerty.

PS - Most people with money don't watch stock reels constantly they generally pay for the micromanaging while directly watching a few times a month. Constant watching is for brokers and the desperate that want to make it but haven't yet.

So from now on, this will EQ: Diablomon to me.
Yeah, I get a strong D3 vibe from this game. It feels a lot like the "original" inception of D3, where rune affixes were actually gear out in the world. So modding your abilities to do special things wasn't just inherent to the class, but had to do with gems you found.

If D3 would have extended that system into actual gear. So say, a Barbarians Chest plate gave +3 "radius" or +.2% life steal or tons of other mods to Blood Funnel (Whirl Wind with life drain), imagine the millions of combos that could exist with gear. You might not even know the power of a certain built until you found a whole suit with the proper affixes to make it work. (And because each skill could be runed, there could literally be hundreds of possibilities per skill, per rune. And then you add in how skills combo off each other, and those combos work with gear? D3 could have been amazing.)

I talked a lot about that in the D3 thread--and showed how D2's system KIND of had that, and that's what made D2 great--all the variables that sprang up from items interacting directly with skills. That's one of the things that's gotten me excited about EQn.

Why? My money counts the same as your gametime cards. You think all the markets close at 4:30pm EST? Do you own a globe?

Well I can see that the conversation about this shit game concept has fallen to discussing its similarity to Pokemon. I truly rest my case.

Enjoy

Some of you are so negative i really think you're paid shills from other companies. I personally like some parts of the eqn reveal and detest others, however, it is what it is and I understand that. Why are some of you throwing around descriptions of things as of it is final? Hell, the devs don't even know half this stuff probably.
