Those that deal in financials of all sorts are still referenced as brokers even with commodity and currency trades amongst others. And while I'm not that intimately familiar since I have a VP of a major bank in the family to micromanage my 8 digits I'm working with (into 9 digits with the others in the family he assists) - I am at the least lightly versed in what he's doing.

But please do go on about your etrade lifestyle.

Too many people are stuck in the past and want something that can never be again so anything new that comes along will never be good enough. They will always be negative towards anything that isn't an exact replica of eq99. It's sad really. As for me I like what i see so far and am looking forward to it.

Exactly, look at the Q&A vids, its so funny looking at them right after a question. No one knows so they all wait till one of em imagine a possible answer. Sadly, most often than not it was that douche-healer/hater-bag Butler who carried the flag of spewing bullshit answers.

because we can only go on the information thats been given to us? If we only talked about stuff that was final about EQN, this thread would be 5 pages long and a boring read.

Might have been answered enough because I'm like a day behind, but I doubt we need a subforum. This thread will slow down once the tears dry up and there really isnt much to talk about except carrying on with out theorycraft, now with more LoL and MTG influence and less WoW comparisons. Actively splitting Landmark discussion into a second thread is probably a good idea though, especially once it goes beta/live in the coming months.

Speaking of LOL. 50% confidence that soe is also making eqn/moba where you can import your eqn character into an eqn moba. Hopefully this is not only pvp and they put in pvp continent as has been suggested.

That would be...terrible. Not overall thrilled with the direction this game seems to be taking atm, but I'd still play it, however I don't think saying thatif pvp existing exclusively in a MOBA environment would be "rustled jimmies saltyfag" in being the last deal breaker. If this is true, I'm hanging up my hat.

Well they want to expand their base. Going after the wow-clones hasnt worked, so the LoL players are another large target. Getting rid of the EQ reputation will be a tough road for them, but I doubt they will cave so easily. If we're lucky it might something like a New Coke (EQN) that gets retrofitted to Coke Classic (EQ3) at some point, but who knows. Those old rumors of a Facebook-EQ game dont look so outlandish now though heh.

The thing I don't get with the LoL heroes / MTG expansions references in relation to the 40 classes is this. Both of those systems work, and work well, because they are PvP based games. I can't name a single game that uses a system like that in a PvE context that was successful. Horizontal progression is legitimate progression if there is an active metagame for competitive player.s Even if this AI is smart, there is no way it's going to be metagaming me unless the robot apocalypse is closer than I realized.

I really like MTG and LOL, but neither of these games would work if they weren't PvP games. They wouldn't even be a functional game, there would be no interest at all. Why would I buy more cards or more heroes once I can already beat the computer? If I can't beat the computer and the only way to beat it is to buy more heroes that sounds absurd. How many people would be willing to take part in such an obvious trick?

Honestly, am I going to need to grind out pyromancer class to get fire resist skill to beat Nagafen, unlock the Snake Charmer class to get the Shissar Bane ability? This stuff doesn't compel me at all. I would be willing to do that for PvP though.

The main thing that bothers me is that with 40+ souls/classes/skillbases/heroes and a bajillion interactions between gear, stats, and environment when they finally do release EQN the patch cycle will look like this: Patch 1 -- we're nerfing shit, ya'll is cray-cray, Patch 2 -- second verse same as the first

I do very much like that they're going to try something different but every last minute of dev time is going to be spent squashing FOTM's. FOTM's are an inevitability. The EJ / Safehouse minmax theorycrafters are going to destroy them. I suppose you could view that as job security. As I am not employed by the SOE EQN division... I take a dimmer view.

That's one of the problems with everyone on your team having a history in MMO's. They have a history of running shit into the ground, and it overshadows that one time they released something that was worth running into the ground. They should hire Tyen to put this shit into a browser for them.

It'll be like the skill development/maintenance cycle in Rift, in that regard.

Yes they need some kind of in world pvp. Even on non pvp servers

Yeah. I remember them saying that shit in Vanguard. That game had 3 good classes and the rest ranged from mediocre to bad with rogs basically being dysfunctional.
