I'm talking about the only person that probably wants cute trolls and ogres is some marketing research jerk who is a self believed genius.

Take it to the polls SoE. I'm not wrong.

Anyone who thinks Everquest's trolls & ogres shouldn't be the big fat jolly retard mens doesn't have any business making Everquest games. EQ2's version of T&Os sucked horsedick.

"If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses."

I get your point.. I think there are certain things SoE needs to decide on their own but this isn't one of them ha! =p

It worries me that people at SoE think players want cute trolls and ogres. Not that it's a huge deal but it just seems a little out of touch and maybe some of them haven't played much EQ?

Good horizontal progression means some of the roles are really hard to get and take a ton of effort but that those roles don't make other roles obsolete.
Exactly. You can do progression without linear +gooder.

Preferably, you at first progress you starter class while learning the ropes, then branch out into your prefered roles with some additional classes, and finally fine-tune your available ability selection to suit your prefered playstyle and add some rarely used situational ones to the mix. The majority of advancement should take place on the second step, while the last step is for the kind of player that has a max alt of every class if you look at WoW, or all AAs maxed if you look at old EQ.

My questions about the multiclassing are entirely different then what everyone is ranting about. A big question mark for me that influences the flow of combat is how you use your abilitites within the game: Will it be entirely cooldown based? WoW-Rogue style energy system for all classes? EQ style longterm resource management like mana? Dual resources like WAR warrior priest (I liked that) or bell curve resource regen like EVE ship shields, diminishing regen if you exhaust yourself like TOR? A combination of all this or different depending on class (they at least need a unified system for the mixable abilities)?

If people want to play a musclar, heroic, conventionally appealing race go play a human, barbarian, umm, kerran, etc etc.

I want to be green, obese, and have autism with a dicknose.

I can see where SoE is coming from... Before the Gods curse that stripped them of their intelligence, they were the largest most powerful race in Norrath. They probably looked more civilized and intelligent before they were cursed.

Since this timeline the curse didn't happen, you get more intelligent, less "special" looking ogres.

Would you take this face and say, yeah he can play a mage!

No guys, this is a MMO, every character needs to look like a super model, with just cute different ears, or differently colored skin, or possibly a tail, and that's it.

I'm bitterly jimmied with my salty tears over how characters look in MMOs. It's all so samey and perfect. Give me fat trolls, give me ugly dumb looking ogres that aren't WoW orcs, give me ugly bearded dwarf women. Heaven forbid I not want to jack off to every character model in the game.

most faces available for every race in EQ classic were pretty bland, boring and made you question if anyone ever chose them.

we did, because we didnt want to look sleek and perfect.

LET ME REPHRASE

We werent conditioned to feel like we have to play super heroes

I wonder if "Justin" would be upset if SOE decided that letting the players decide is a great idea. Then sat down and listened to players who don't think like him.

Well, then this tangents into another discussion. A big, fat ogre shouldn't be a mage. If you want to allow total freedom and let the ogre player be one anyway, then there are tangible tradeoffs to doing so, not simply varying benefits like WoW.

Eq is a RPG though. 99% of the player base don't want to be roleplaying as themselves.

also big flex phrased it perfectly so that he doesnt want to have autism & also a dicknose, he wants a condition called "autism w/ a dicknose" which TRULY is an unfortunate medical disorder.
