Are they? If I got this right, SOE will release Landmark prior to EQN, so people can help them build the world and art assets for the generous reward of one pizza coupon per castle. I guess they'll offer increased plot sizes aswell, for the cheap prize of 9999 SOE phantasy monies you too can build a lush garden in your newley acquired backyard; what would your personal Neuschwanstein be without it!

Which is genius, not only will they make money off of a superpowered minecraft while EQN is still in development, they can cut back some costs on the artist front.

Because Landmark is not the actual game and can't be shaped that way, I mean how could it be? You have a large empty landmass and then you would say "Here is your own personal EQ, do whatever!". So the person next to you builds a giant dick, great.

And how would the whole land-claiming even work, just open the floodgates and whoever comes first wins and claims all the land? Which is why i think that this is alot of bullshit, you'll get a small piece of land (linked to your account) and if you want more you pay up for it.

What about mobs, do you think people who're into building proper structures want to be annoyed by a bunch of dragons and golems smashing their stuff? The "character" in landmark will most likely be nothing more than a glorified avatar, anything else wouldn't make any sense at all.

Go back a couple of pages there's several condensed threads or go to eqhammer.

As so some was revealed , will check out eqhammer , I tried to look right quick a bit here but first page of posts was someone arguing how mounts were horrific.....

And with all the things I can bitch about EQN , mounts would never occur to me even.............

This is why they are going to have multiple continents and multiple worlds all of which you can travel to. Don't like the amount of land you can get on Norrath_201? Go to a brand new, procedurally-generated world.

There's a nice monetization opportunity - exclusive use of a continent and/or world by a guild or guild(s). So you don't have to deal with other people claiming and building Minas Tirith in your new Antonica.

I've been there and it says "you can build stuff, run around the world and have a friendlist". So minecraft with better social features, not an actual MMO. But for some reason people believe they can actually create their own game in Landmark.

He's talking about EQN/L not EQN. I hope you didn't realize that, because if you did realize that your comment doesn't make a lot of sense. It's minecraft the mmo which means you need a lot of seperate worlds or Bob's guild is going to build New Paris on the continent you and your guild are buliding SWG II.

Ok , just glanced EQHammer, just to clarify for myself , the instant travel all around the world the moment you login via wizard towers or whatever bit is referring to EQL only right ? Right ????? Help me step back from the ledge......

Oh and I was very relieved to see the SOEmote was in play , fuck without that I was out.......

Well the rumors at SOE Live were that eventually you will be able to use StoryBricks to build in NPCs and Switches so you can build dungeons that have traps & etc.

But that's not the first iteration of EQN/L

So Mughal's right, but a little early.

That is about Landmark, yes. In fact, the bulk of information available at this point is actually about Landmark.

According to this:

@Cirolle @Geekdomo @terryjmichaels @TaliskerDev the things we mentioned today are for landmark only. EQN will have differences.

I honestly never saw this minequest wrinkle coming before they revealed it in Vegas. Totally came out of left field for me.

It seems like it really does make a lot of sense tho, and could turn out to be a pretty slick move for them. Potentially helps them generate some decent content and (more importantly) attract an untapped market of build-it gamers to this IP. Hopefully it works out like they're planning and makes their product a lot stronger/more sustainable for the long run.

Only thing I really don't like about it is I gotta wait even longer for the real game to start. I've been waiting for this shit to get going for more than a decade now. Oh well. The wait continues.

Any guesses as to when they'll start talking combat and demo more on this mysterious emergency AI? I'm doubtful it's gonna be this week and wouldn't be surprised if PAX comes and goes without anything in that department either.

Wizard Spires don't work in EQN according to the lore, so seems likely. That doesn't mean they won't let you fix the Spires, but presumably you need to have access to the Wizard class in EQN to use them.

Ok, so where is the difference to EQN then? They let Landmark run for a long enough time to grab enough player-made structures, cobble them together and release this as EQN with the option to transfer your Landmark avatar over?
