Holy shit dude, calm down on the pulls. No those 5*'s are shit. Save your money for a real banner, you can't even level any of this shit. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

He is more trigger happy then I am at this hahaha.

I feel like forcing yourself to reroll until you get good units probably teaches you how shit the pulls in this game can be.

My only advice is to not fuse units that have good TM's. You never know how hard it can be to get another one of those units again.

Didn't spend any money for that..I'll survive! Thanks I'll keep Cecil and RM dupe.

One combat question, so I have lighting with dual wield which I thought made any physical attacks hit twice right? Why does her thunder blitz not hit twice ? It says it's a physical attack if I recall on the wiki.

Lvl 40 Refia to 4 star but I'll just let her sit there useless for abit. My red mage with dual cast is at 21% (had duplicates) TM so if I ever start getting moogles I'll feed him before zindiane since my initial team of 5 doesn't need dual wield but sounds like she needs to it to be god healer.

It's true dualcast is incredible and Refia really wants it, but I'd still moogle Zidane first. Exdeath won't be on your PvE team, and if you get a Firion from the banner tomorrow, he needs dualwield to earn his ranking as a top unit for activating 2x weapon passives.

Did you equip Lightning with a weapon in each hand after hitting 100?

Just a pro-tip: You should actually be incredibly furious that you got 3 troll rainbows in a row, not happy.

I've gotten 3 rainbows period. Elza, who I rerolled for, vanille and fucking big dick Freya. At least your troll rainbows get good later. Cept for seven.

I've only gotten 3 rainbows, but mine have been amazeballs.

If you have Exdeath and Cecil, I'd go with Cecil (Paladin Cecil, not Dark Knight Cecil). The tank aspect will be better than the caster exdeath. I wouldn't even bother leveling the limit burst unless you're going to macro it. It grows much better but you'll want a tank before then (you can also pretty easily get another Cecil and just level that one's LB instead of the 6*).

I haven't pulled a troll rainbow yet either (Twilight Sparkle did pull a 5* Troll before handing the account over. Fucking Gafgaraon)

Marie, 2x Lightning (I consider troll. Both are likely perm bench. Was in the same fucking 10+1 pull), Dark Fina, Luneth.

Speaking of which... Is there a unit that stomps on themselves more than Marie?

Yes I did (enhancer and Masume) but thanks for pointing it out!

So for PVE I don't want a mage? As a generic team I thought Cecil (tank), Lightening (phy dam), Refia (healer), ExD (mage) with some type of buff/debuff/breaker would be a good solid first team to aim.

Should I be looking at putting 2 physicals instead of ExD? I have a chiz i haven't touched i could start working on or is Firion a better option if I get him. Both need dual wield by the looks of it which will take abit. I have a lot of cactus's to burn once I farm up some money, I should be able to get Cecil to 6 and maybe lvl 100 possibly with them.

Oh but back the physical attack so I should be seeing lightening do two thunder blitzs then now that she has dual wield?

Also is there any cap that stops you from randomly fighting people in exploration zones?

Yes each exploration zone has a set amount of monsters. Once you've fought them all, you won't run into any more that exploration. Yes Blitz should hit twice with dualwield.

Mages are fine early game. It's late game, when you start to stack up a bunch of top end TM rewards on units that make physical units just scale way better than mages. You still want some mages ready for when the game forces them down your throat (like that slime SoM boss).

A good team for you would be:

Cecil -- tank, backup heals
Refia -- heals, buffs, cures
Lightning -- main dps
Chizuru -- 2nd dps (Firion's 6* is usually better here)
Rain -- fullbreak

That covers everything important for boss fights, with any whaled out high dps friend to help speed it along. A notable change is when WoL gets his 6*, he can replace both Cecil and Rain as he covers both duties.

Ok great, thanks. Sad face as I've always been a wizard type of guy since before EQ days but one must give way to the meta! Obviously just starting out I have limited resources so I want to make sure I'm committing them properly since you can waste a lot on useless units so appreciate the advice.

Ill wait and see if I can pull a furion and if not start on chiZ. Also the lightening dual wield wasn't going off because I was killing them to fast. I ran a SoM ELT and she was double hitting with blitzes.

I've never used Rain, any other higher end breakers I might have or is Rain the best I can aim for. I do have a 5 star WoL for down the road at least.

There's really nothing "wrong" with Mages, they just aren't top tier due to how TMR's stack. To be honest, the most annoying part about mages is always having to choose their skills aside from auto attacking. You can cruise through tons of stuff with strong physical damage auto attacking, mages you have to select a spell/ability every time.

Rain is a very shit character (he's free after all), but he does go to 6* and has fullbreak, so there's that. Lots of alternatives though.

Ling is the latest and greatest breaker, but she was a limited time unit so if you don't have her, she's gone. Noctis can handle breaks, and do extreme damage at the same time, and that's what most endgame teams use now.

I think that's about it for 6* breakers? I may be forgetting someone, so anyone feel free to chime in. Warrior of Light becomes the king of breaks for a long time once his 6* releases (AoE 45% breaks with 3 turn duration).

Mages can be good if you load them up with TM's. For example, Dark Fina, Exdeath, or Emperor in 100% best in slot TM gear have around 800-950 magic. If you them give them a Ring of Lucii for dualcasting Alterna, that's a 1530% AoE magic nuke, which is going to be completely absurd damage per round.

Problem with the above is mana. That mage will run dry by round 3, and you could use a physical dps in less TM gear, to do almost as much damage that can go 6-8+ rounds before needing to worry about refilling their mana. Physical hits generally chain better too.

The mages which get Tier 5 magic can be nice chainers. Sadly the first one we will get is Shantoto when she gets her 5* awakening.

So is that 6 star mags coming abit of a different style that might work for more sustained fights? He has a spell that ramps up each time in damage and I think was relatively decent mana cost. Or too much risk he can die before really starting to blow shit up?
