I think people need to face the reality that the average amount of time you put into an MMORPG these days are 1-1.5 month tops. Sad state of affairs for the genre when there are single player games where you put that put time in.

Yeah, its too bad. I liked this game for the bust your balls instances they have. Well, they weren't hard per say, but corralling up a few pugs to execute correctly was like pulling teeth. It was the first mmo in a while that actually had some semblance of difficulty in LFG content. Or was it the mouthbreathers that made it difficult? Either way. I had good times and will for a while still.

You can turn off mount music if it drives you crazy.

Gathering definitely sucks balls. Crafting is different. My guild just went from Coil Raiding guild to Crafting guild (lol?). I haven't tried it yet, but a lot of people seem to be enjoying it. I'd give it a shot before writing it off.

Dunno why people are ragging on Crystal Tower. It'll be a nice filler for most players between Titan HM and Coil. It's pretty much LFR from WoW, except it's not the same instance 3 times over.

Managed to rotate in new players to Titan thanks to Zp's help and got 10 people their quest credit. If there's demand we'll do it again at a later date

Shit, guess I missed that.

And regards to the GIF, I just found it randomly on Reddit and laughed so hard so I posted it here.

From a reddit thread, some settings you can tweak to make the NPC culling better in big stuff like Odin, Svara, etc. Improves FPS all around too, especially on PS3

go to system menu (Esc on PC)
character configuration
control settings on left icon bar (should be in there already)
click on character tab on top
change Effects in Motion to OFF, its about 4 options down with the dropdown to the right (not the slider above)
change the Battle Effects Settings to Show None for Party and Others (limited or none for Own)
apply

click on Display Name Settings on left icons (4th or 5th one down)
change the first option, Display Name Presets, from Default to Hide
Apply

both these things should improve things significantly and people have gone from bronze/silver on behemoth/odin to gold. Also changing Movement Type in Control Settings, General from Standard to Legacy helps out people who have played, well, every other single MMO ever made.

I tweaked mine to change Display Name Other PCs to display HP and name when targeted

I would agree to this until this game. I really believe there's more time worth playing than a month or two in this game. It could be that i've been so busy and RL has limited my gaming time. I think if you rushed through the content you missed a lot of old school MMO feeling but if you're content to get up through it and play what they have or take a break until 2.1, that's cool too. I have to say, I cannot remember a game in the last few years where people shouted for LFG and rezzes. I feel like I actually need people in the game and it seems that morons make themselves known rather quickly. From what i've heard, a good player makes for a much better experience in dungeons and late game. I haven't really made it that far so we'll see.

Still really enjoying the game. Haven't played enough to burn out so I may still be wearing out the rose color off my glasses. I do think that 2.1 is going to be worth checking out and I hope it comes late October.

Well that's it really. if you're fairly casual, most mmos nowadays still have a couple of months in them at the very least. If you play a lot though you can be done within 2 or 3 weeks. It used to be that the leveling was so slow, the drops so rare, the pks so gay, that even if you played a lot everyday because you were a teen, you still couldn't reach endgame within a few months of time. It made it look like there was much more to do, plus new mmo player feelings discovering shit and what not. The games nowadays aren't targetted at this small "hardcore" demographic anymore though, games in general that is, and specifically mmos. They target people who can play 1-2hours a night maybe, not even every day. For these people the rate of consumption of content is not too far off from the production of content. For people who play 4-6hours a day+16hours on weekends though, yeah, not enough shit to do.

Let's be honest, there isn't much content at endgame. There's a decent amount imo, if you play little, but if you rush you can clear all that shit within 2weeks, which a lot of people did, then yeah there isn't shit to do anymore because well that's how it is. Whenever a korean grinder is released though everyone's up in arms about how slow the leveling is, so I'm fairly certain that the genre is dead other than the free month for people who play too much.

Anyway completely get that people are quitting already. I'm personnally still having fun, however I haven't played a combat class much at all the past week for example. I did half a dozen of titan runs with my WHM in not so good groups until I got my relic(been on titan step for like over a week but didn't bother even trying cause WHM is the suck, fucking shittiest class ever, don't even get why people want to play this over SCH), I ran AK a few times for myth and helped guildmates with garuda, hydra and chimera, but overall I'd say I played my SCH/WHM about 4-5hours total the past week. On the other hand, I leveled fishing to 44, leveled GSM to 50, been working on increasing my fortune a bit(mostly though it goes right back into shit to level more crafting but I have mats for LW/BSM/ARM rdy and I'm still at the same amount). I'm also planning on leveling a twinked monk, full HQ gear at all levels, just need to finish leatherworking and blacksmith first which will take a couple of days. Every day I log in, collect my money, look at the AH, buy shit that's cheap, craft for 30mins, refill my retainers with shit to sell then go fish a bit or level a new craft, chat with people, do melds for people(which is time consuming since no one seems to know how to do this shit), undercut the undercutters, restock if needed. It's pretty fun to me.

Grinding fates for alt-classes is shit. Crafting I can sort of get on the wagon with.

And I'd dig an easier 24 man. Having Sean drag bads (read: me) through it to gear up for them to do BC faster is probably the best carrot available.
I'd probably run Crystal Tower once and then never again, because why the fuck would I want to go to a lower level zone for worse loot than I already have?

Also people who run Coil won't need to gear anyone else up, because they already have their 8 man decked out and they have no reason to do some 24 man for people that won't be raiding harder content with them.

Pretty much. I can't think of a reason why I'd go to Tower aside from seeing it once. We're already clearing turns 1-4 in under an hour - by November most competent 8 mans will have full sets of Allegan.

Is there any way to send two different key commands to the client when the client is not in the foreground ?

Fishing is basically press a button to cast and press another button to reel in, which you can hear a sound to tell you when to trigger it. I want to be able to look around the net while I fish in the background.

Can ahk do this ? Would it need two instances of ahk, one for each command ?

This was my plan for all classes, but Fates are just too good XP to ignore right now. The game would be better if there were no Fates and people had to run dungeons to level alts. But of course Fate XP is so good I'd miss it big time.

The login spam macro shows you how to send stuff to the window without having it active. You simply need to make like F1::ControlSend,,{F1}, ahk_id %FF14WinId1% and the same for F2 then bind cast and reel to these keys(or whichever key you want) instead of sending Numpad0 spam, and remove the loop part.

I noticed two things you said there that I have really missed as well. You log on to chat with people and you do melds for people. I hear people all the time helping others out to finish relics stuff or whatever. Sure they're making money is most situations but I haven't seen anyone do that in forever. I'm not trying to convince or debate one way or the other but while we are on the topic, I just wanted to point out some of the good things that are refreshing to me. I get people are quoting, it's drop off time, and that is to be expected. You're fooling yourself if you did not think it would happen but, let's see how many people come back for updates and/or expansions. Let's see what they do retain come first of the year. I can have fun in this game all day long but I am curious to see how many people last enjoying all of aspects that new MMO's say no longer work. I may be the minority but it's working pretty good for me.

I got that, thanks. This is what I have atm :

F1::
WinGet, FF14WinID, List, FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn
ControlSend,,{1}, ahk_id %FF14WinId1%

F2::
WinGet, FF14WinID, List, FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn
ControlSend,,{2}, ahk_id %FF14WinId1%

Pressing F1 makes both F1 and F2 fire (injecting keys '1' and '2' into the window). What do I need to add to the script or how do I change it so that when I press F1 it doesn't also fire off the F2 (key '2') part of the script. Some kind of 'if' function or something ?
