I would agree to this until this game. I really believe there's more time worth playing than a month or two in this game. It could be that i've been so busy and RL has limited my gaming time. I think if you rushed through the content you missed a lot of old school MMO feeling but if you're content to get up through it and play what they have or take a break until 2.1, that's cool too. I have to say, I cannot remember a game in the last few years where people shouted for LFG and rezzes. I feel like I actually need people in the game and it seems that morons make themselves known rather quickly. From what i've heard, a good player makes for a much better experience in dungeons and late game. I haven't really made it that far so we'll see.
Still really enjoying the game. Haven't played enough to burn out so I may still be wearing out the rose color off my glasses. I do think that 2.1 is going to be worth checking out and I hope it comes late October.
Well that's it really. if you're fairly casual, most mmos nowadays still have a couple of months in them at the very least. If you play a lot though you can be done within 2 or 3 weeks. It used to be that the leveling was so slow, the drops so rare, the pks so gay, that even if you played a lot everyday because you were a teen, you still couldn't reach endgame within a few months of time. It made it look like there was much more to do, plus new mmo player feelings discovering shit and what not. The games nowadays aren't targetted at this small "hardcore" demographic anymore though, games in general that is, and specifically mmos. They target people who can play 1-2hours a night maybe, not even every day. For these people the rate of consumption of content is not too far off from the production of content. For people who play 4-6hours a day+16hours on weekends though, yeah, not enough shit to do.
Let's be honest, there isn't much content at endgame. There's a decent amount imo, if you play little, but if you rush you can clear all that shit within 2weeks, which a lot of people did, then yeah there isn't shit to do anymore because well that's how it is. Whenever a korean grinder is released though everyone's up in arms about how slow the leveling is, so I'm fairly certain that the genre is dead other than the free month for people who play too much.
Anyway completely get that people are quitting already. I'm personnally still having fun, however I haven't played a combat class much at all the past week for example. I did half a dozen of titan runs with my WHM in not so good groups until I got my relic(been on titan step for like over a week but didn't bother even trying cause WHM is the suck, fucking shittiest class ever, don't even get why people want to play this over SCH), I ran AK a few times for myth and helped guildmates with garuda, hydra and chimera, but overall I'd say I played my SCH/WHM about 4-5hours total the past week. On the other hand, I leveled fishing to 44, leveled GSM to 50, been working on increasing my fortune a bit(mostly though it goes right back into shit to level more crafting but I have mats for LW/BSM/ARM rdy and I'm still at the same amount). I'm also planning on leveling a twinked monk, full HQ gear at all levels, just need to finish leatherworking and blacksmith first which will take a couple of days. Every day I log in, collect my money, look at the AH, buy shit that's cheap, craft for 30mins, refill my retainers with shit to sell then go fish a bit or level a new craft, chat with people, do melds for people(which is time consuming since no one seems to know how to do this shit), undercut the undercutters, restock if needed. It's pretty fun to me.
