I'm guessing the old guy was Nestor Royce (he is not an unknown actor, he been in lots of stuff in the UK)? In the books Littlefinger gives him the Arryn's other main castle (Gates of the Moon) to get him on side rather than this. Or were they just the servants at The Eyrie and this is coming later?

I'm hoping that the woman wasn't Lady Waynewood, otherwise that means they are going to totally change the storyline.

It is when there is no possible way GRRM will finish all 7 books before s7 airs. If I had to guess, by the time they bump up against S6 (even if the book isn't totally ready), they will be able to draw enough from that + the sekret beta infoez they got for the series end and mix them together to get a S6+S7.

In the book Sansa plays along with the Alayne Stone cover. He beats the Lords of the Vale by Littlefingering them....one of his tried and true strategies of buying one of them and having the guy put on a fine charade when it counted.

I hate to sound like a butthurt Redditor, but in this case I really like it better the book way. When has Littlefinger ever been totally fucked and in need of saving by a teenage girl? Shit, son...this here's Petyr Baelish we're talking about. I hope they don't put Varys into some kind of out of character weak dick move situation next.

Hell, he is hinting it might be 8 books now, he is going to go full Jordan and just keep stretching that shit out until a rare disease kills him before he finishes. It is truly unbelievable that he continues to just blow off finishing these damn books; they are his only worthwhile legacy.

Hmm, speculating it might go over seven is something he has stated since before AFFC came out, this is in no way a recent revelation. Though it is somewhat dismaying as he, unlike Jordan, has stated very clearly that he nor his wife (presuming she survives him) will allow another author to finish his work.

Which I find hilarious because he is, in essence, going to allow HBO to finish his work due to his utter failure to produce his story in a timely or reasonable manner. I have already resigned myself to the fact that I am going to watch the end play out years before I am actually going to be able to read it.

after reading the first five books, its obvious that 7 books isnt nearly enough time to finish the series properly. characters are still unfolding.

It is entirely possible that he is under contract toat least pretendto be working on finishing the books.

He might be totally cool with letting the crack HBO writing staff (a staff of writers on crack) finish his story and then, after that, take the outline they give him and tailor it a little bit. Especially if all he ever wanted to do to begin with was a trilogy, but then he took the money to write 4 more. He might just be stuck. It's not even throwing shit at him or denigrating him. He's had a career in writing. If it wasn't art/his breadwinner I don't have a lot of doubt that he could just churn out some garbage pages and put the "DONE" stamp on it. The fact that he can't finish would seem to indicate that he probably does give a fuck about his fanbase. He doesn't wanna just intentionally feed them garbage... but when you run out of story to tell you just run out.

Well I won't watch it once it eclipses the books, I simply am far more invested in the book storyline than GOT but I agree completely that his decision to allow HBO to finish his work was incredibly foolish. I think once he resolved the mereenese knot, he presumed writing would return to the levels of the first three books but he is entirely too lax with his schedule now comparative to then and the story has grown vastly more complex.

You mean for 1 season, since Season 5 is the last 2 books.

There is enough stuff left for 1 season, given that they'll continue to add plenty of stuff into the LF/Sansa storyline because they treat LF like a main POV character instead of the behind the scenes secret evil plotter guy.
