Yea its getting good word of mouth, and bad word of mouth. Good as in its pulling people back into the theaters but bad as in parents are not taking their kids. Regardless of how it ultimately does, Gunn made the movie he wanted to make and its pretty clear Disney was hands off more or less on it. I guess you could argue Disney wanted the happy ending, but I know Gunn really loves these weird dudes so him giving them all more-or-less one is on brand.
Ill be interested in his Superman movie if not only because it will not be a weird group of characters. All of his prior movies including Slither, Super and Suicide Squad had strange, weird but mostly likeable characters and Superman is not weird or strange, and its a throwback to Reeves Superman. Its outside his wheelhouse and I hope it works for him.
