They aren't catering to the hit it and quit it crowd. They are making content for those who play the game and enjoy events and the world changing. Permanent content usually gets abandoned when new shit comes out anyway. Look at every other mmo with zones that are ghost towns because people want to do the new stuff. It costs nothing to just log in and do current content with everyone instead of doing year old shit that nobody gives a fuck about. Dunno what the big deal is.

And just about every expansion every other game has released in the same time it took them to put that stuff out, blows that content away and it's permanent. But oh wait they will offer the old living stories for the low low price of 200gems per episode, fuck not even star trek online charges for their past episode content that was release for free in the first place.

Ascended should have never been introduced to the game, make costumes or legendaries or whatever the fuck else using the same grinding t6 mats method, but stat gear should have stopped at exotics.

That fucking wvw overflow eotm map, it took them a year to create that map from start to finish and all it's turned into is a fucking karma train which somehow gives better rewards that wvw, how about taking a moment and moving those rewards in wvw already? It helps with queues into wvw, guess how many NA servers deal with queues on a daily basis, 3 T1 servers, china release? don't give a fuck, because of them the developers didn't do shit for the game balance but throw out living stories to keep people busy. They spent a year on that piece of shit map when they could have used it to make another actual wvw map instead so we're all not all bored of borderlands and eternal battleground.

How about fixing some of the biggest problems in wvw still, haven't done shit with commander tags, won't take the time adjust ppt scoring so that's fair and not so lopsided to stacked servers, they don't give a fuck about balance populations. In fact they instigate a lot of the imbalances, let's bring back the stupid orbs buff which favors the bigger pop server, now in the ruins which is covered in dust by the way cause no one gives a shit to roam in there. Let's give a free transfer to a mid tier server right before seasons, hey guess what server won the silver leagues without 1 loss.

But shit guys we got the burpy frog mini game...
That is just the stuff that happens to be in the game right now that I could remember off the top of my head. No game has ever come close the amount of content that GW2 has added. Every two weeks a new content patch that pretty much took a couple of weeks to devour. Every two weeks. Here, look at all the updates:

Category:Updates - Guild Wars 2 Wiki (GW2W)

I see from your post that you want other stuff than what you got updated. That's just you choosing different priorities. Your petulant tone is just evinces disappointment at their failure to fix your personal WvW issues. OK sorry, maybe they will send you a cupcake. However, a rational person would read those update notes and see that they've fixed tons and tons of stuff in the past year and made the game much better. Just because your personal issues did not get solved does not mean anything.

That sound like a quarter of what they were doing during GW1 expansions. They added several zones, quests, classes, skills for everyone(so like new weapons in GW2 terms) as well as new actual game mechanics(Factions had battlegrounds, meh whatever, Nightfall had heroes, can't remember if eye of the north actually added anything new besides more heroes, 8 heroes cap, metamorphosis powers which I think were new maybe and maybe dailies/hardmode dungeons or some shit).

I wasn't saying they didn't do anything. Obviously they did a lot of stuff over time and very often, it just feels like all they did though was small scale in nature and due to the way they designed it, it's mostly gone too which is a fucking stupid design if you ask me but whatever. The problem, and that's my opinion and a subjective one at that, is that I look at your list and there's basically nothing that sounds interesting. It's been what, about a year now? In GW1, Factions was released a year after and it had more content than what was permanently added to the current game. Nightfall was released 6months after that and had A LOT more content than factions, it probably had close to the content in the fucking vanilla game, classes aside.

I hope they do have an expansion they're working on, even if I have to pay 30bucks to buy it, as long as it has a lot of shit in it. 5-6zones, new class/weapons, new skills for existing ones, maybe new race(but have to redo meshes and all the classes animations and shit so that's not important and very time consuming), new stuff to do like housing or mercs or polymock(was that ever added?).
Their plan is to keep you logged in to see what comes next. One expansion every two years does not do that. You like George RR Martin content dropping and I like serialized comic booking. To each their own.

every two weeks, another shitty 'follow the zerg around for 4 hours a day to get your new piece of transmog. every two weeks.

You make it sound so appealing. Real talk, they have added a lot of ART to the game, they have added virtually ZERO compelling content. I had high hopes but gave up after my 2000th fucking piece of dragon candy. or was it my 2000th piece of wind taffy, or my 2000th mark of helping lion's arch or whatever the fuck else? I can't remember anymore, it's all the same.

They weren't releasing expansions every 2years in the original though. 1year for faction, 6months for nightfall, 9months for Eye of the North then episodic content patches preparing for GW2's storyline every 2months or whatever it was. Frequency doesn't matter anyway, and fuck I misread GW2's release date, it's going on 2 years now. With no new class? No new weapons?

Anyway, said what I thought about the lack of content I care about, no need to keep repeating it so I'll stop posting in the thread until something new starts, was just lured in by the season2 thingie and gates of maguuma but it seems it'll be more of the same so very little interest.

Man, do they have a web-based armory yet? I can't find anything. My only geared 80 is a necro and it'd hodge-podge gear from the first month of release. I'd probably have to read through mounds of bad information about builds to figure out what the actual good information is and then re-gear him to meet that spec. By the time I'm done with all of that my attention has probably already wandered off to something else.

This is why I can't ever really re-start playing these games. The work/fun ratio is way out of whack.

The problem is if I login now, there is nothing to show for it. It's all gone.
This is my issue with the Living Story as well; miss a few days, don't play for a week+ and good night and good luck. I would prefer a regular expansion with events, or if nothing else, a chapterbook/Personal Story way of experiencing that content. Otherwise, its just a waste of dev hours for things that will never been seen.

Why? There was something new whenever you logged in. Every two weeks they hit ou with something new. What's the big deal if you were busy or occupied with another game and you missed it?

No no no. It's super duper easy. Just buy a full set of gold colored berserker gear or if you prefered you could do a condition applying dude. There are a MILLION good builds for necros.

Here is the necro build thread.... lots and lots listed

hehe your criticism is more than valid. I only log in to do new stuff or run fractals. For instance I never got Liadri last time and they made her easy so this time I made a point of getting her (Solo gauntlet fights). I also tried all the new bosses and then well I saw there were new crystals in the Wind zone so I did those. Other than that I log in here and there to do the cool jump puzzles. I am an explorer type that likes the social aspects of WvW. The most I played in the last year was when they added the new cool WvW zone. I have achieved all the best gear and I really like my spec and have not substantially changed it in months. I logged in a while ago to get past 10K achievy points and I am due to mess with my appearance a bit soon maybe.

I personally really love the game but I miss the long term guild oriented goals of other games. Fractals are my favorite part by far.

Yeah my personal problems, I mean there isn't a forum subsection of wvw that has had many other players with those same complaints for the past two years. I'll pass on the cupcake, there's a high chance I'll randomly end up with a cupcake with vinegar filling than chocolate filling from them.

Enjoy your burpy frog game.

Most forum sections of every game website are devoted to complaining. I sometimes think that the entire internet is one giant complaint box. I certainly think your complaints are valid criticisms, I just think you should try and see the magnificence of the full part of the glass instead of complaining about the empty half.

I defended GW2 fiercely because it's a game I liked a lot and still like in pills. My stuff is map exploration, puzzles and things like that. I'd enjoy dungeons, but I fucking hate with a passion speed runs and trash exploiting (resetting or other means of skipping that are in my opinion a coding mistake: trash should pile up, destroy players, pile up the corpses and burn them instead of "resetting", fuck trash should fucking loot gear off players that try to skip).
I hate also the fact dropped loot is a gigantic joke, nothing ever worth a damn, nor when I had a gazillion MF%, neither when they changed the system and MF% is account wide. I did the first southsun mega boss with waaaaay above 200 mf% and all I got was a fucking yellow item, not even an exotic, where people where linking fucking precursors in chat over and over and over. Oh yeah, a 20 slots bag, one.
I have 5 level 80s and 3 in their 40s, I got *ONE* piece of exotic dropped from bags and it wasn't even for my class. I despise collecting tokens for armor, it's a plague inflicted to us by WoW in TBC and back then it still made sense (we give you some temp shit not as good as raid gear, but it may help to fill gaps), now it's fucking standard: gain rep/tokens, get armor. Doesnt matter that you may save the world with that armor, go get me tokens and go cause the extinction of a specie so I can trust you enough to give you this shit helm.

If you're looking for a game that sill gives a bit of adventure and exploration, without being handheld all over the place, but having just a number of PoIs that can be visited, then yeah, GW2 is an amazing and fantastic game and I enjoyed it immensely for over 1 year. About everything else was done wrongly on their part: no trinity (personal opinion), no loot, champion trains (finally removed I heard), wasted content in dungeons with skippable trash and LoSable bosses, legendaries, ascended armor, etc. etc.

There has never been a biggest waste of enormous potential as in GW2, they had a gold mine under their feet, all they managed to get out of it was fools' gold.

I do not dislike the idea of bi-weekly content updates, just their implementation of it. I'm hoping they had the time to learn from it and apply those lessons, because often during season 1 it felt like they were under pressure to just get something out in time. I'm looking forward to trying out season 2.

While I am not as bitter as you, I do agree that the loot system is kerfluxored. That Southsun thing was a bug I think or an unintended consequence. It's never happened again. I have well over a thousand hours played and never seen a precursor. I have three fractal weapons sitting in the bank but never got one I wanted. I have had some Ascended boxes drop in Fractals. Indeed fractals are really where it's at for fun to me in terms of having a an hour or two to kill. Now that they fixed Dredge, I think all those dungeons are very fun.

Also, if you like to explore a world that is very rich in lore and contains wonderful hidden parts and hidden events, then this is the game for you - at least for a few months.

The lack of Trinity is textbook stuff now. Every MMO that attempts to say "we don't have the trinity" gets instantly compared to GW2.

I don't think Champion buses will be mourned. There's a few zones however that have multiple champions all over the map, and those might end up replacing Queensdale for it. But the community hasn't congealed on it yet. At the moment, it's more of a boss bus following theevent timer.

Frostgorge has a boss train on TC most of the time. It's actually a good way to mindlessly farm skill points for your Legendary.

Man Dmitry, I was a huge GW2 fanboy pre-launch and really enjoyed the game when it came out. But you can't defend the Arenanet against the charges of lack of content. The Story Line shit is nothing special and it amounts to 5 new daily quests every few weeks. It's really nice that they are constantly changing the world and evolving the lore, and I commend them for that. However, in the span of 2 years, that sort of content should of been in conjunction with new maps, new classes, new skills.

I don't know anything about the new trait system or how balanced it is, but GW2 launched with the shittiest class customization system I've seen in a long time and I don't think they've done anything to fix that. Just imagine Wildstar with half the abilities and no AMP trees. It's boring.

They should of been looking at ways to keep people playing and paying money. How do you get people to spend money in a game that is free to play once you buy the box? Just use League of Legends as an example. They should be launching classes like new champs. Every 3-5 months they should drop a new class and charge 5-10 dollars to unlock it. New weapon line for a class? Charge $1-2.

However, I don't think their dev team is capable for that. I watched their development process during Alpha and subsequently after launch. They are awful when it comes to class design and trait balance.

Yep. No point to play an rpg without a gear grind, dancing dungeon fights were horseshit and not fun etc etc. GW2 was hype as fuck, and super cool to do once, but its just another for the pile of games that couldn't followthrough with a proper end game that was appealing.

That was one of the best parts about the game they released imo, and they nearly completely dropped that approach in late 2012. The october patch still added various bits like mini dungeons, puzzles and new events to the open world, then we had southsun 1.0 (decent event with lasting consequences, I liked it) and christmas that were fine too. In 2012 they also declared expanding the existing zones with more events and hidden content is part of their plan going forward.

Once they started the living story approach things went downhill (imo) and often followed the same method (ground triggers spread across some zones that spawn 3-5 mobs that drop tokens you need tons of - even used the same spawn location patterns each time) or used old re-used old content as a time saver (placing a simple 'click me for achievement' item at the end of jumping puzzles). What I missed was little things like adding the ruins of a molten facility to the open world after the F&F finale. The nightmare tower was a bit better in that regard and obviously the finale in LA had actual consequences, so it wasnt all bad. But much of it felt like they were under time/manpower pressure and shooting from hip to get things out in time.

At the same time the story felt disjointed and didnt make much sense, and their final explanation with Uber-Scarlet and power/reach/influence beyond what any of the elder dragons seem to have was crap too (again, imo). Some might like it since that is obviously a matter of taste, but tbh nobody I know really does, they are either indifferent to story/lore or found it to be more or less on the bad side.

I might sound pretty negative in this thread but let me say that I really do like the game. I think they sold themselves short during their first two years and hope the upcoming content does the base game justice.
