I called my carrier to make payment and get my paperwork, guy on phone said I had to wait for the hardcopy stuff to arrive, that I could not make a payment over the phone or do anything online yet. Two weeks later it hasn't arrived yet.

Edit: Just tried registering online but they couldn't find my SS.
Da fuk? thats retarded. I got a link in the email and took about 30 seconds to set up and pay. Fucking insurance companies.

It's not the insurance companies. It's the middleman, the healthcare exchanges, that are causing most of the delays. The insurance companies can't process the accounts or assign policy numbers until they get it from the exchange, but they've been pretty quick once they do.

No it hasn't, not for the past few years anyway. They've been able to look up your coverage in a big ass database for a while now.
A few hospitals have access to that, the Federal mandate for it has failed being passed at least a half dozen times to date - it's a wanted item that's not happened as of yet. There's local ones in many states, most of which have started in the past couple years - Maryland's is only about halfway to being functional right now, Hopkins and UofM Medical has it fully active - Mercy and Sinai don't for example.

Perhaps your state does, the US as a whole absolutely does not.

Don't you people have jobs to get a real plan from? Enjoy your overpriced, high deductible, under-networked, Medicaid-lite, shitsurance.

HAHA
Depends on the state - networks in the states that negotiated rates heavily ended up being pretty robust. The ones that wanted it to fail and took the insurance companies first offers are shit, as a "Sure we'll take whatever you say" plan will always be without negotiation.

You guys act surprised when you bottom trawl looking for ridiculous shit that you actually find it, or pretend that it in anyway represents the majority.

Freedom Outpost where the article was first linked to what I can see isn't exactly a "bottom trawl" when so many people quote it - just like TPM running this ridiculous article:No Way To Add A Baby To Your Plan With HealthCare.gov

A complete nonstory because as they say "Normally when a kid is born you just call the insurance company to update the policy" - the Obamacare website is just a gateway to get a policy started with an insurance company, it's not there for ANY revisions that are needed because it's a gateway not an insurance provider....

from article ^
Federal officials caution that the current slowdown looks similar to the other periods that have followed a recession, where health spending tends to tick upward at a slower rate than the rest of the economy. They also said that the Affordable Care Act has had a "minimal" impact on health care spending.

Man, Obamacare is awful. Yeah, sure, I'm saving $1000s of dollars a year on healthcare, but my new health insurance card? It's like half as thick as the previous ones. It's so flimsy and pathetic!

Fuckin' Obama!

So a Republican move intended to destroy Obamacare and go back to the great old way that was working so well will instead lead to exactly the socialism that Republicans fear?

I'm not sure where the problem is.
