did you have any injections?
nurse called the next day, saying doc wrote 2 referrals, one for consult for injections and one for surgery. told her would pass on the surgery talk for now. i looked at the referral, it is just for new patient. think they just like to stress me out.

=

waited about 2 weeks for back people to call, earliest can get appointment mid jan. don't think should be surprised, going to heart doctor wed, been waiting to see them since august. in both cases, not even seeing doctor, just NPs. big downside of living in the sticks
If you are asking me if I have had the injections, yes - I didn't keep count but over the years I've probably had 30+. Don't freak. At one point the doc's used to do 3 , 2 weeks apart. I'm pretty sure if I had done what the doc had told me to instead of doing everything he told me not to do at least 3 times (to show the fucker - I guess how dumb I was?) I would have got more out of them. The first set I had I got almost 2 years out of. As stated I didn't do what he told me to do. I had 4-5 multi story projects going and didn't have time to be sick (youth). I recommend trying them before even thinking about surgery. They do come with some risk as I'm sure someone here will point out but I never had issue with them.

Bros I need peculiar advice. Bro of mine got a hand injury, they think its bruised nerves. But he has severe pain when typing now but has full motion. Is there anything glove like with an exoskeleton frame that would let him type? Thinking something that would fit over top of fingers and clip over the forefinger and extend slightly past the fingertip. I did a cursory search online and can't find anything for this type of injury and the OT he's seen so far doesn't have any suggestions, but he's going to a specialist eventually.

I've never had a problem with any drug and I didn't take them all at once but various stuff like hydrocone, oxycoden, oxycontin or what it's called and other things I can't remember.

Today the doctor did something new and shortly after lunch I knew something was wrong. My blood oxygen was tested and it's normally 98% it was 86%. I've never done recreation drugs but I feel like some people I've seen. Major floatin around, well I couldn't move at all. They gave O2 and finally I got it up just breathing.

It was out there, only thing now is a headace is coming on but jeeze that wsas rough.

I'd suggest he goes to a physical therapist pronto. Not only will they be able to give him exercises to do to make sure his hand improves, but they will also have any possible info on what can help him right now, like a glove or whatever. Other than that, wish I could help you.

He is, but the guy doesn't know of anything to help and is kinda useless. He's on a waiting list for an appt at a hand specialist. We're trying to 3d print some stuff now.

Look up tendinitis gloves. That might be just the thing. You can get them anywhere (Walmart for example). There are many types, a lot of them fingerless so you can still do daily tasks while wearing them (like typing). Search Amazon to get an idea. Hope your friend figures out something.

So what I ended up doing was finding some finger splint plans and modifying them a bit and printed them out. Put in a little bit of 2mm foam and he tried them out. Worked out ok, but redid them in TPU and they are pretty much perfect. TPU is just pliable enough that it acts as a bit of a shock absorber but is rigid enough that most of the force gets carried into the bands further up the finger. That plus we could measure his fingers with calipers and I can scale them to fit. Supposedly got a different hand specialist appointment in a month.

Today was the worst after all my shit. It's kind of been going downhill but today. I walked to other end of the house to turn the A/C on because it was below freezing last night and got up to 75 and it was getting warm with the house shut up. Half way back I just melted for lack of a better phrase. It wasn't like being paralyzed. Just instantly had zero strength on both sides, arms and legs and both sides. I just melted to the floor and lay there for some time as everyone was gone. Finally when I heard someone I called for help. It took me a good half an hour to turn over onto my side and back up to a doorway and get vertical. I was able to walk but jeeze it was tough. Took a solid 4 hour nap even though I had just woke up from sleeping.

I'm better now in that I can type but I have to drink from a straw. I have a doctors appointment Thursday which is kind of iffy at this point since the forecast is heavy rain and mid 20s. I've gone to the ER multiple times to multiple hospitals and they have no idea and guessing from what I have seen most of their customers are either having a heart attack or for stuff that a regular doctor should be where they should go. At least a heart attack maybe they would have an idea what to do about it. Nerver once had any spacticity (moving arms/legs/whatever) like big flinches or something. It's like ALS but slowly over time.

On a semi related note a while back I had this test they put electrodes on you and flash things before your eyes and also prick you with shit and record how long it takes to get there. All that was normal. From the gigantic number of test I've had I'm very healthy is all they ever say. Investigation and such is a foreign concept to all the doctors I've been to. If there is no test that says X you have this they just quit seeing me. From talks to a couple of doctors they have said even some of the stuff doctors said it "could be" a percentage of people never show positive and their plan is "doesn't matter if you don't s how positive your insurance won't pay anything so see ya". It's amazing that much of an industry has never heard of just paying for something that doesn't come from insurance. I paid for several MRIs, head, neck, and spine with and without contrast. But God no let's not talk real money. I even offered bitcoin and that was like "wut".

Myesthenia gravis? I know it has similar symptoms but has some effective treatments.

My mother-in-law died from ALS. The woman was the closest thing to a saint I’ve ever known, and the three years she fought that damn disease was brutal.

I guess on top of all my other stuff I have/had Covid. I took more than I regularly do of Vitamin D, C, and some Zinc. Sometimes today it was like breaking a fever. I never had a fever but it felt that much better in a very short time span. Time will tell.

I don't know what the cause of the problem is now. I am floating around majorly, almost comatose for periods. I have another MRI schedule. This is pretty bad. I'm not taking any medication at all now other than my insulin. Almost feels heavily drugged. I had surgery once and I kind of feel like I did just coming out of the anesthesia. It's very hard for me to spell. I sit in a chair, my left arm I can touch the end of my bed. In front of me is my computer desk. Right arm can touch the door to the back part of my bath where the shower and toilet is. This is my life right now. It sucks.

It's pretty damn overwhelming at times. And nobody seems to be the least bit motivated to find out the problem. That includes family and upteen doctors. It's been 11 years now, and doctors and family ask why I am depressed. I'll be 54 next week and leave it up to me 20% of my life now in this shit that gets worse every day. In 11 years have been given two prescriptions for anti depressents and both of those I could not take. My dad had a prescription that he had a bunch of so I started on Prozac. Hopefully it helps.

A number of doctors have hinted at it being illigel drug use. I carry all my medical records around and it's a giant fucking book now. When I first got sick I was getting sometimes 3 different test a week, each one hair, blood and urine. I've had a few while I've been sick and doctors get all pissy when you tell them go ahead run another one to put your mind at ease, it's not drugs.

The amount of crap that nobody even comes up with an idea or theory is mind boggling. When it first happened I looked like someone with MS, weak on one side and eye problem on one side. That lasted about a day or less.

But I lost 40 pounds in a short amount of time. Nobody even discusses that. That is why I had to leave work I was sooo tired and lost so much weight. I still drove 100 miles to work each day and for a couple of days when it was bad I just closed that eye, no problem. Nobody even attempts to ask why my heart rate is 140 at rest now without medication. Just overnight boom. Cholesterol is fine, stress test fine, the songram of my neck the cardiologist said it was better than average for my age.

I'm sure with all the bullshit you've been through, they've checked this, but how is your thyroid function? Relative had a growth on his thyroid gland, threw his metabolism all over the place. Sometimes he was like a hummingbird, was running the AC in the car full blast, all windows open in a t shirt in the middle of winter, then other times the exact opposite. Only asking because of the rapid weight loss. Again, I'm sure this was covered early on, but on the odd chance it was missed. Really hoping you can get to the bottom of it.

I'll sound like a broken record, but madness is to keep doing the same thing and expect different outcomes...
There is a non-zero chance that a radical change in your diet could somewhat fix that... since you're type 1 you'd probably need an actual doctor specialized in that kind of stuff to help you, but they do exist in the US ( doctors specialized in keto, carnivore, fasting... )

High blood sugar will end up causing neuropathy. Maybe in your case a keto diet to keep blood sugar under 90 all the time could at least stop the damage from occuring and maybe even allow some repair to happen.

Basicaly what they are saying there:

Of course there are no studies, as there is no money to be made from promoting a keto diet. Only losses.

M A1C has averaged over the last 20 years in the 4.9 to 5.2 range. Only once has it approached a 6 whern I firtst had the incident.

Yes I have had thyroid checked over and over. It's on the short list of stuff they check when you say you are always either very cold or very hot. Nothing.

They all have a flow chart. Numerous doctos have said you could have X, but until you show positive on Y test it won't matter cause your insurance won't pay for it. Like people have never heard of someone coming up with their own money for something. One of the things often mentioned is Lupus because I had neurological issues to start that appeared to be MS like and a few brain lesions which have since resolved. Plus a large amount of my problems revolved around my skin, but mulitple rheumeotlogist until you show positive on the ANA nothing we can do even though they admit a certain percentage of people with Lupus never show posisitve. They know exactly what someones insurance will and won't cover and their job revolves around it. Period.

The only nerve issue is in both hands and I mean at the exact same time. Walking down the hall and bam. It's not a lot of pain but to me it feels like if you dipped your hands in wax and it dried. Like the skin is too tight. Being on both sides at once instantly is boggling. I do know if I don't move my hands at all they feel 100% normal. Apparently at night you move your hands while sleeping and such. But during a 2 hour MRI I'm totally still I can tell.

There are only so many MS specialist. The first two I saw t hey both said all your symptoms have nothing to do with MS so we think it's something that might have caused the lesions. The 3rd said "of course it's MS, you have lesions what else would it be?" Apparently never heard of a number of other things. Then she went on how about the clinic is not there to see patients, but to run drug test. She said all my problems had nothing to do with MS but she got me into a drug test that they couldn't tell you what it might be to "help". Keep the money flowing.

I would say my hands are like working in varsol all day but I doubt many doctors have used it (petroleum cleaning agent for cleaning engines on takedown and such) I haven't used it in 35 years but you remember.
