there are plenty of foods that effect a person's smell. that could compound with other stuff like not drinking enough water and oily skin.
has anyone else said something about it? it could be something that you are really sensitive to.

Don't have any mutual friends that I can ask. I doubt I'm the only one detecting it, though I despise "mildew smell" to the extreme so it might smell worse to me than to other people. Then again, the guy's lack of any progress with women despite having a good job and being decent-looking says otherwise.

Sounds like hygiene/fungal stuff to me

Yeah, probably. Was hoping there was some "oh it's definitely this" answer to all of it that I could relay to the guy. It's possible he just got a bad roll of the dice. ...or has been piling up wet clothes instead of running them through a dryer for the past 15 years. In which case... why?

I knew another guy with cripplingly bad breath who was also unaware of it and also had zero luck with women. It's difficult to broach such topics with another dude and tell them they stink, even if you're just trying to help them.

There's also the fact that a number of things affect the types of bacteria growing on your skin. We all have a bacterial colony covering our bodies, the question is what kind. Some bacteria thrive on more alkaline environments, and some in more acidic ones. It's possible his skin is overly tilted one way or the other on that scale (often because of diet), and it's causing an explosion of a type that has a bad odor.

I know from my experience with keeping large scale aquariums about fighting "bad bacterial colonies", and often if you're in a fish store and smell a mustiness it's because of that. (OTOH, with aquariums you also have to deal with anaerobic bacteria which is a whole other level of rotten egg nastiness)

You just need to tell the poor guy, just be direct and polite. I'd want to know.

This reminds me actually; a supervisor I had once told me about having to address the same thing. One of the people on their team was this lady who had a terrible funk on them, like just about smell it in the next cube over. Ended up being some medical thing that the lady was aware of and working with her doctor to fix.

Electrical outfit I worked at for 25 years was owned by a guy that stunk so bad we joked when he died it made him smell better. Apparently he had pills that would help but he didn't like to take them because then he could not drink and he definitely loved to drink.

When I was in the Air Force there was a guy who was the RL equivalent of Pigpen. Pretty much always looked like he rolled around on the ground before going anywhere, dude's room stank of feet as well. Anyhow, apparently before I got there, someone put a mark with some kind of washable pen in the collar of his t shirt with out him knowing. The mark was there for at least a month. This was Vegas and we spend plenty of time outdoors.

Nah man I explained it wrong, he got out of the shower stinking. It was a medical issue. He smelled like garlic and feet. When I took over the Myrtle Beach territory he rode me around in his car giving me the 'back in the day' tour. I tried not to breathe and was sooooo damn glad when I got out of that car.

Yeah, I get it. Just reminded me of the no-shower guy. There might have been something medical there too, under all the other stink :D Kicker is he was actually a decent dude, other than being a huge slacker at work.

Had a friend in college who always had this "mildew" smell about him. Like this really strong smell of "moist dirty clothes" that was very off-putting. He was a great guy though and we got along well. I met up with him again a few years later, same deal, still had the mildew odor. Was too polite to ever bring it up. Noticed when I went to hang up my coat on the wall next to his coat, his coat had the full mildewy smell. So I had to hang my coat up like four spaces down from his. If it was something with his clothes, he should have been able to detect it, which made me think it was some sort of personal issue.

I happen to be by my hometown recently and one of the people I go say hi to is this guy. His place of residence smells fine, no mildew smell, not even on the blankets on the couch. Just him and whatever he's wearing. The smell (in a cloud going out about 2-3 feet around his body) is worse than ever and he absolutely reeks of moist dirtyness. Guy tells me about how he hasn't had a GF since college (which is now going on 15 years ago) and how rough it is and he isn't sure why he just doesn't have any luck with girls.

Even just shaking the guy's hand, I walk away with my hand reeking of mildew smell (and his hand itself was a bit moist).

Any ideas what the guy's problem is? Wondering if it's a health condition, a hygiene issue, or a laundry issue. For a while I thought maybe the guy just didn't have a dryer and was wearing wet clothes or something, but the fact that his issue has persisted and worsened over 15 years with him living in a completely different place, and even his hand leaves a strong mildew smell if you shake it, has me thinking it's some sort of bizarre medical condition.

Worst thing is, the guy seems to be completely unaware of it. I don't even know how to broach the subject to tell him about it, and it's honestly none of my business, but...yeah. It appears that it's really messed up his life if he hasn't been able to get a second date (or even the time of day) from women all this time.
You need to tell him, worst case scenario you don't smell it again. It's ruining his life and he is nose blind to it.

I've had laundry issues like this putting too many clothes too close together on drying rack, but it's the rare occasion when I fuck up in damp weather not 24/7.

Dehumidifier is good for drying - I have a tumble dryer but it shrinks my clothes so I use it for underwear and towels etc. I'm kinda incompetent at this stuff.

If his hand smells, he must be wearing damp clothes?

There are definitely medical conditions which will cause you to smell... bad? weird? etc. Like if you're eating a high fat diet, the skin around your neck will smell like used motor oil. Pre-Diabetics also have an odd smell too. Diabetics themselves have a smell. Then of course your average high garlic diets. Or high hummus diets have a distinct smell. Then of course you have diabetics themselves that have an odd smell, and then there are like skin conditions that even if the person is taking a shower - the build up of sebum is so quick and strong, that the person never really "gets clean" when they are in the shower. So it just continuously adds layers in the pores.

East Asians with the ABCC11 gene dont have any body odor. Which if Bill Gates is going to manufacture fucking any mRNA to change our DNA - he needs to put that bad boi in the next vaccine. Anytime I have to go to Richmond, I feel like I run into at least one indian person that smells fucking awful and Im always in some tight ass space with them. Get me the fuck off this elevator, NOW.

Question for butt pelleters: at what levels did you start to look into things? Just got my numbers back, 40 year old male:

Free Testosterone: 10 pg/mL
Testosterone: 438 ng/dL

Per the lab reference levels, it's pretty middle of the road for my age. My energy is pretty shit, but I can make a ton of lifestyle changes - diet sucks, need more exercise, currently no supplements, blah blah blah. Current plan is to start making those changes and re-evaluate in 3 months. Any recommended supplements/blends? Edit: forgot to add, what sort of thresholds make sense to cut losses and what levels does TRT come into play?

My Test was somewhere around where yours is when I first started doing TRT. Theres plenty of people out there that say with proper diet and exercise you can increase those levels and thats true. But if you lack the energy to do so now.. are you really going to do that?.. kind of thing.

Pellets are some peoples thing, I dont care for them. I think the Shots are too "up and down" as far as how much supplemental test enters your system. Depending on your frequency, you may drop off a cliff the last few days of your "round" and feel just fucking awful. I enjoy the Androgel simply because of that fact and it takes all of 30 seconds to apply it after I take a shower every day and its a stable, predictable dose.

From what Ive read, at this point, with the habits Ive gained and the changes Ive made since being on TRT - I should have, naturally, a good 700-900. But Im a size 28 waist, 11.7% body fat, at 191 pounds. I feel like an absolute unit in the gym and Im afraid if I stop the TRT - that Ill lose that "feeling" and lord it feels great when I get that high.

Plenty of shit that says its not healthy for you and you shouldnt take it. But I compare it to like Ozempic or whatever. If you're a fat, unhealthy, unmotivated, slob with low confidence.. are you really going to live as long as you would if you were the opposite of those things taking Test? (Or in Ozempics case, if you're 350 pounds, the Ozempic is by far a healthier choice than having some kind of heart disease etc.)

Ive read about plenty of Testosterone boosters. Im sure some work to an extent. But every single one relies or rests heavily on you doing "your part" by exercising, eating right and I swear somewhere in the directions it says "fuck chicks in their late 20's for best results."

The thing that has mortified me a bit is the fact that Im curious how long I had low Testosterone. Im 38 now, and I started it when I was 36. Shitty diet, didnt exercise, etc. I have confidence Ive never had before. I have a body Ive never had before. Im fucking women that when I compare them to my older girlfriends... Im just at a loss for words to ever understand how I let women that fucking ugly, and yes I do consider them ugly now, fuck up my mentality as much as some of them did. Much less, how many decisions did I make from that low confidence, meek, shy, anxious state that have kept me from making bigger decisions in my life? ... Talk about a self awakening realization. TRT has changed my life for the better and if it makes me die by the time Im 55 or something, Ill die fucking happy.

They don't really. DHEA is about the only one that has been proven to have any effect at all, and that was only measured to be 20 ng/dl on average in men. That's like an order of magnitude smaller movement than you'd want to fix legit low T.

Whats up with all the low T stuff? facebook algorithm is advertising at home testing kit or some shit for it all the time now.

Is that what you guys use or did you go to your doctor and ask to get tested or what? Just curious how this comes about.

For me, was just general curiosity of where I was at with everything. I bought a relatively comprehensive profile, but testosterone was definitely a major interest within since it impacts energy and belly fat, and I definitely don't have enough of one and too much the other.

When I'm fixing a car, I try to collect as much easily accessible information as possible up front. The medical field always baffled me in this respect. Always seemed like a lot of treating a bunch of similar symptoms with a very limited amount of information when potentially a concrete root cause might be observable by filling up a couple more vials. My old doctor was an asshole and refused to order anything but the typical blood draw stuff (lipid profile) even after I flat out told the guy I wanted to pay out of pocket if insurance didn't cover it. I wasn't aware I could just order these labs myself until recently.

I bought mine from Life Extension for around 250, but Labcorp/Quest have similar packages. They emailed me the order, I walked into a Labcorp location, handed it over, had some blood drawn, and got my results in less than a week.

I think you're seeing a lot of it because we're all mostly in the same age bracket and becoming old fucks at the same time. If this board is still around in 30 years, I'll probably be doing a Rascal scooter derail.

Most doctors are midwits who are good at rote memorization. A fair few are straight retarded. The basic concept of allopathic medicine in the modern era is probability and iterative treatment. I'm sure they get used to idiots trying anything for pain pills and the fact that most diagnosis has to be informed heavily by discussion involving vague descriptions. We also have a shitty culture with, I presume, best practices involving liability and deniability.

It's why I end up going to clinics or telemed more often, they don't give a shit so if you know you have a sinus infection because you know what one feels like, you're in and out in 2 minutes versus the doctor that wants to either run a dozen tests or wants to "try" something first before they actually treat it.

I used to use Teledoc religiously. Then they stopped prescribing antibiotics for everything, and they became completely useless to me. I get a sinus infection at least once a year and its outrageous that I have to go to my doctor, pay somewhere around 100 bucks to get a prescription for fucking antibiotics. I understand that shit will eventually become immune to antibiotics, but gahh damn. Just giving me extra steps to drive up the cost of the shit. What about poor people? Theyre just fucked.

Yep. Ive read that. They still wont prescribe antibiotics to anyone for a sinus infection afaik. I also have a neti pot and it helps, but Ive had my nose broken real bad when I was in the Army - lucky that its relatively straight - but Ive had issues ever since. Probably need some corrective surgery shit tbh.

I think the point of what Izo posted is that the stance of the healthcare industry is that most sinus infections are viral and antibiotics do nothing for them. Has nothing to do with teladoc, in person doctors wont give me antibiotics for sinus infections either.
