That is really hard to do. Changes for each deck and each match up. You really need to know which tools you absolutely need.

I'm having much better results with the Warlock aggro deck. Especially in mirror matches.

Too many people play warlock aggro with the mindset of "throw everything down and then aim it at the opposing player's face and whoever runs out of life first loses." I've been playing much more strategically and going for those efficient trades and even 1:1 trades when it keeps board control in my favor. Results work much better. It slows the deck down a tad but I will win far more often.

Switch over to Murloc Warlock. It's all over the ladder now. If he draws Blood Imp, you lose.

I dunno, every time I get to rank 4 with Warlock (of either variation) I slowly lose back to rank 7, then rank back up. People know how to deal with it past rank ~5 or so. Murloc beats regular Warlock 70/30 though, so that is a point in its favor for mirrors, but it is slightly weaker vs Druids and Paladins.

Has been a great arena day today. 10-3 rogue, 12-2 shaman, 12-2 paladin, 6-3 warlock and my very first 12-0 shaman

Looking at the decklist I didn't even expect 7 but most of the games I crushed. Especially all mages for some reason (faced 4). Best was at 8-0 I beat a mage while having 29 life left while he had blown through couple frostbolts, flamestrikes, argent commanders and fireball or something.

Highlight was hard killing a 17/17 lightspawn with reckless rocketeer, three smaller minions and finishing off with ogre. Taunt totem bravely took the initial blow.

^^ Nice on the 12-0.

Whelp, I'm done with Arena. Not even the slightest bit fun anymore once you get to infinite ish and nothing is fun because it all comes down to insane amounts of RNG. It's either "meh, I won" or it's rage inducing bullshit. There's no actual excitement or really good games or clenchers, just meh and "holy fucking bullshit RNG" or "Omg I only won because of insane RNG". Sooo boring. Barely only fun if you get a good deck with interesting combos, and even then it's iffy. Otherwise it's all "meh". But it's my fault for doing 50 arenas in a week I guess.

Jesus what did you have to pick against the reckless rocketeer and voodoo doctor?

I know folks like to say HS is too random and no skill but one of the big secrets of getting better is exactly like MtG: learn how to mulligan correctly.
Indeed, but still even the mull can fuck you lol. Going from starting hand full of end game into mull being hand full of end game really blows.

Heh, can't remember. They have their uses thou. I have grown to somewhat like voodoo doctor and healing effects in general on arena because you can seriously fuck up someones plans with them. That's not to say I rate voodoo doctor very highly but it's not like picking goldshire footman, or wisp or something.

Wisp is actually not the worst pick for Rogue (combos, especially if you get zero back stabs).

I just had a Shaman Lava Burst by 3/5 with taunt.... he still had 28 health. Weird. Screwed him for his next turn to, he played nothing.

Christ, rank 5 again. If anyone wants to hit legendary, figure out a deck that can beat Druid late/ramp/taunt/heal and agro Warlock. That is basically all you run into after rank 6. Oh, and Rogue (because it does well vs Warlock agro but not vs Druid).

Got deathwing'd in arena for the first time. Opponent was at probably 10 health and I was sitting strong at 30 (dat prophet velen). Not really too scary though when you're holding a MC and SWD.

Played a guy who has nothing but gold cards... he put in $300 and just D/Eed everything to craft nothing but golds. He has one deck.

Reminds me of the Rogue deck that I used to use. Just missing the Sun Shattered Clerics and the Novice Engineers. Still haven't leveled those assholes.

So, just started playing this. Do I have to spend a lot to actually be decent at it?

Leveled Jaina or however her name is spelled to 10, probably going to start to the Paladin guy next. Any tips? Whats the best way to get packs?

Starting Stone #1: Six Steps to an Ultimate Deck

all the info you need in that, and the #2 and #3 articles that are linked to get you started. have fun!

You do not need to spend a lot, I recommend dropping $30-$40 just to unlock most of the commons, a whole bunch of rares, and you'll probably get a few epics and maybe a legendary or two to disenchant to get you really started. You pay in either time or money, if you don't want to spend the bucks, expect to grind for about 3-4 weeks instead.

^That. Cannot emphasize enough that you should use your gold to do arena. It helps you learn the game and you are always going to get at least a pack from it, which is 100 gold anyway, so you're paying 50 gold for a chance to practice/learn the game and (if you win) some bonus things.

Day two of the new ranking. Down to Rank 10. (or is it up to Rank 10?)
Warlock Murloc decks are funny. Haven't lost since yesterday.
