Although not a pro player, I was way better than the average magic player. Either won every FNM or took second place to the same other guy who was always first or second with me, did well at a couple PTQs, built the Team Flores deck unaided two State Champs in a row, etc.
The skill gap of Hearthstone doesn't even begin to compare to Magic. Mainly due to the way RNG can create ridiculous swing turns in Hearthstone (Knife Juggler, Unstable Portal, Ragnaros, etc), but also due to the ridiculous complexity of Magic itself. Most of the skill in Hearthstone involves setting things up so you can capitalize as much as possible when RNG goes your way, and are crippled as little as possible when it goes against you. Also, the lack of interactivity and the absurdly overpowered nature of the charge mechanic reduce the skill involved even further.
I could go on, but really there's almost no comparison between Hearthstone and any other CCG. Even Yugioh and Pokemon have a higher skill gap.
