So if I remember correctly, the greens only have 3 dragons (?) to the 10 or so that the blacks had before tonight? A war of dragon attrition is a winning strat for black.

Also, don't even give me some shit that Aegon somehow "survived" that fall. Is his Valerian Steel armor like Cap's shield and it absorbs all kinetic energy? Dude better be dead as fuck. Long live Aemond, first of his name.

The best episode of the season. Aerial dragon dogfights being the reason.

Whelp at least they are picking up the pace I figured they would of dragged this out over 2 episodes.

This week in shit writing, play by play:

Daemon hallucinations are fucking weird...Yes Daemon's greed and lust for the throne is what manipulated all of this and started the war, I guess he is kinda responsible for Rhaenyra becoming the spiteful cunt that she is. Except she is a blessed saint in the show so i'm not sure what this is all about, just setting it up so we can blame Daemon for all the bad shit that Rhaenyra is going to continue to do, he's responsible for making her what she is?

Completely changed the Rhaenys/Corlys dynamic, Corlys would have been fed to a dragon had Rhaenys known about his bastards. Literal shrimp boat captain vs dragon riding targaryan princess, yeah targaryan's are totally known for being reasonable and forgiving people.

Also note they changed it so Rhaenyra is gone so its Baela that summons Rhaenys back to dragonstone, so its not Rhaenyra who fucks up and sends Rhaenys to her death. In the book Rhaenyra is still bedridden, she just had an 8 month miscarriage/stillbirth like 2 weeks earlier, and she refuses to allow her son to take his dragon leaving only Rhaenys to go. This decision is what drives a wedge between Rhaenyra and Corlys
and is a large part in why she sends him to the black cells when she briefly takes King's Landing
. Of course in the show its Noble Rhaenyra who offers to lead the charge herself but is talked out of it, so totally not her fault..

Alicent has to drink moon tea to abort her baby because in the show they made her and criston cole lovers and she got pregnant, just more Criston Cole and Alicent character assassination.

While entirely invented for the show to portray aegon as incompetent and making up a rift between him and his brother, I must admit Aegon's war council was pretty hilarious.

More invented garbage about Rhaenyra's little surprise teleport visit and now even Alicent doubting that Viserys named aegon his successor (this is complete fabrication and absolutely does not matter). Aegon is the rightful heir by all the laws of men in Westeros, Rhaenyra was only named heir once, when she was 10, because Viserys failed to produce a male heir and the realm was terrified of Daemon taking the throne.

first thought on the actress they chose for Alys Rivers was what do these people have against casting attractive people? Should of cast Kate Beckinsale, she's supposed to be this ageless beauty whose feminine wiles captures the hearts of both Daemon and Aemond (spoiler alert they both bang her)....but the more she talked the more I forgive them, she pulls off the mysterious woods witch part at least.

And ahh. yeah Ok I totally see what they are doing to Daemon and his dreams/hallucinations. Shows him being bewitched by Alys but also exposition, these are Daemon's inner thoughts about the succession and having his place in the line stolen, but they are presenting it in such a way that makes it entirely on him and excuses Rhaenyra and her plotting from the equation entirely. Mary Sue has to be totally innocent of everything.

The bullshit retcon about the "song of ice and fire, prince who was promised" excuse for why Rhaenyra was chosen is even more hilarious given how GoT ended, literally the prophecy was completely meaningless. The Prince who was promised who united the realm? (this isn't what the prophecy is btw) yeah went mad and burned down king's landing. Oh ok, so the Ice+ fire part of the prince who was promised? all he did was murder the last targaryan and ended the blood line. He fucks off to live as a wildling north of the wall. The Prince who was promised to defeat the others? Oh yeah, not even a Targaryan it was Arya, even though all that shit writing was completely invented for GoT, it doesn't even match the tie in they are trying to make with this show.

For the record the actual book prophecy is not from Aegon the Conquerors time and has nothing at all to do with any of this shit, the prophecy came to be after the dance of dragons and before the tragedy of summerhall, like 50 years before GoT happened. It's the prince who was promised to awaken dragons from the stone. Which Danaerys does in season 1. live dragons birthed from Stone Dragon Eggs. A completely seperate prophecy about azor ahai is about fighting the others and it has nothing to do with Targaryans the prophecy is from Assai by the Shadow a land so far east that it's never even included in the show at all.

About the dragon fight. In the book it was a planned tag team effort of Aegon+ Aemond vs Rhaenys, of course they had to change in the show because reasons, drive a wedge between the two brothers, show aemond to be evil/devious letting his retard brother lead the charge, show aegon and cole as incompetent, etc Look at this retard charging a dragon 50% larger than his led by a far more experienced dragon rider...what a buffoon. and she totally could of got away but instead she turns around all brave and shit? No it was a fucking ambush, while Meleys and sunfyre were locked Vhagar descends from out the clouds and rofl stomps her dragon. But yeah Sunfyre and the king are both injured in the fight.

but gotta admit the "oh fuck" when they saw Vhagar...

Actually it's 4 vs about 12 but the issue is not dragons it's dragon riders. Aegon and his dragon are out of commission and Halaena and her dragon are completely grief stricken and also out of commission, plus in the show they made her autistic on top of that so she was never a factor. So for green its now Aemond on Vhagar and Daeron on Tessaron (not shown yet, mentioned, he's with the hightower army) vs Rhaenyra, Jace, and Daemon who is away in harrenhal. and I guess Baela now (this is dangerous making her a dragon rider due to what happens).

Oh and both him and the dragon lived. I know this show set it up as a cliffhanger because they forgot Game of Thrones was a thing but surprise it's not a cliffhangar:

Pretty sweet battle sequence. Definitely better than anything in the last few GoT seasons.

The first time we saw Daenerys use her dragon in battle was better than this episode for sure. It was the culmination of 7 seasons of build up to finally see a fully grown dragon on the battlefield. Her dragon did way more damage and destruction, wiping out whole columns and the sound mix of that episode was way more epic.

This battle was one or two scorches and some mid air dragon dancing.

yes GoT Season 7 Drogon dragon fight was infinitely superior to this. but what do you expect its bad take Bald Brah.

Looking back at this, ignoring how much they changed the circumstances and all, just looking at it from what they presented, this dragon fight was full on retarded.

So they had Aemond and Vhagar attack Aegon and sunfyre and take him out of commission, without so much as a scratch against Rhaenys or Meleys. Ok sure whatever Aemond turned on his brother hoping that he could play it off as a whoopsie or something, friendly fire (lol). But Rhaenys and her dragon are completely unharmed and well out of range, Aemond isn't even chasing her he is flying towards his brother and his downed dragon (to finish the fucking job or something? WTF) She totally could of just flown away and won the battle by doing nothing. But instead because in the book it's written that she died here so they had to have her turn back for some heroic last charge? for what reason? and then her dragon which is literally 1/3 the size of Vhagar, somehow they get locked in battle and despite vhagar grabbing her dragon and able to flip it around like a cat would if it had a mouse by the tail, somehow meleys is able to force vhagar a dragon that weighs 3x as much as he does, forces Vhagar to crash into the ground? And then she decides to run off only to get "surprise" snapped up.

Again in the book this fight lasts like 30 seconds. Meleys shows up and burns some of coles army (he has the formerly black lords and troops he just forcefully converted out in the open taking these losses btw, you notice they did this right in the show, all the targaryan forces are in the trees waiting), the moment Rhaenys shows up he has all his archers and scorpions start shooting at her, this complete distracts her and she is taken by surprise by the two dragons, and realises the battle is lost. So aegon and Sunfyre latches on to her dragons neck. In response Meleys burns Aegon and then latches on to Sunfyres wing (this kinda happens in the show, they are locked together) but then Vhagar descends out of the clouds and bites her dragons head off, and all three dragons crash down in the middle of the field. Vhagar is completely unharmed, sunfyres wing is injured and he can't fly, and aegon is badly burned (By meleys, not by his own brother). Rhaenys smoldering corpse is found next to her dragon but you cant even identify it its fucking bbq.

How does flying away and leaving Aemond on the field "win the battle". His dragon then nukes the castle.

You are "Sorry Sylas" because your "THIS IS DIFFERENT TO THE BOOOOOOK AND IM A BOOK AUTIST" takes inflict sorrow on all who read them

Did you not pay attention to the size difference between the dragons? Vhagar is 3x the size of hers. Did you not notice it was a trap all along, vhagar hiding in the forrest a few miles away? The battle was lost, vhagar was going to burn the castle either fucking way (an insignificant castle as mentioned). Her choice was lose the castle but leave with a dead/injured sunfyre and possibly aegon due to friendly fire, or lose the castle lose her dragon and her life for....the exact same thing. Aegon and sunfyre were already down and the castle was already lost. She could of easily fled and reported the victory of dead or atleast critically wounded aegon+his dragon for the small price of a nothing castle they only tried to defend because it belonged to one of the small council.

It was shit writing and shit fight choreography.

Edit for the record the size difference in the book was not so extreme, meleys is a battle hardened dragon and rhaenys is a much more experienced rider, which is why the planned ambush was 2 v 1 from the get go. But because they changed everything about the fight they had to radically alter their proportions or it wouldn't have been much of a trap

so in the book, youre saying this was a legit plan to draw out 1 dragon and have the brothers do a legit 2 on 1 on the aunt? why does tv make aegon a petulent child? are they trying to just make him into joffrey b/c ppl liked joffrey?

is he supposed to be this shit?
