It is lucky that some of the people that are in this country had ancestors kidnapped and brought over and then they procreated several generations so now they aren't in the Serengeti like they could be.

Bunch of sensitive women in here, god damn, anyone even suggests you didn't hulk your achievements up a mountain bare-chested and it is some kind of attack directly on your testes.
Because it's an obvious predicate. Saying "you are a success due to factors beyond your control" goes straight to "you didn't earn your success" and then "you don't deserve your success." Otherwise there's no point to even making that assertion.

There are no "innocent points".

You guys should also take a look at the word "luck" it has serious religious undertones and multiple conflicting definitions. It really started out purely as a religious concept, when you get into these nitpicking debates your view of the word can effect your meaning.

American slaves came from West Africa.

If it's all luck there is no point in trying is the eventual logical step. That is what the "downtrodden" want you to believe because then you won't blame them for not making anything of themselves.

There's nothing lucky about achieving an intention. Life is a chain it didn't start when you were conceived.
No, Fana. Everything your ancestors achieved before you was outside of your control, therefore you are lucky to benefit from it. We are lucky to have been born in this time, after so much has been achieved. If we fuck up the planet, those who are born after us will be unlucky to be been born at a time where they are doomed by our actions.Whenyou were born, just as much as where you born, is completely out of your control and therefore nothing but luck.

Don't think that just because your forebears worked hard to make things good for you, that you somehow "earned" that.

You may only look at my life as a whole! Granular analysis of my life events is an attack on my achievements!

What in the fuck.

Who even knows what that guy really has at this point. He's already proven he's a liar and kept doubling down, and lately he's been proving he's kind of stupid too. His arguments in this thread make no fucking sense.

No, it really does not go straight to that. Things happen every day that are beyond our control. It is just an observation. Denying it makes you seem like a lunatic. This hodj shit of taking every argument to the most extreme makes literally any conversation on here just the worst.

I just look at the statement "you are a success due to [some] factors beyond your control" to just be vacuous. You could say the opposite, "you weren't a success due to [some] factors beyond your control". What does it even mean outside of some people's attempts to diminish accomplishments? If you are just saying it, well sure, okay, but what's the point of it?

There's no luck involved that was intent, luck would be like a meteorite of gold fell into your backyard.

Are you a child? You are the one posting all over the place and seem upset. If you don't like me saying I'm proud of my accomplishments, well get over it.
I am also proud of Khalids accomplishments.

A Ph.d. in mathematics ishella smart.

Why the fuck would anyone even get a phd in that. Wouldn't a masters be enough? But this guy... he's like fuck that noise. Math isfundamental.

Oh I agree things happen every day that are beyond our control. There's no doubt about that.

But success in life isn't one lucky break or one bad break unless you're a lottery winner or you were involved in some horrific accident or cancer. Success in life is an accumulation of good decisions or bad decisions, and I guarantee if we analyze any person's life we can see that at work.

Im joining late but there seems to be a cognitive dissonance here or everyone talking past each other, or something. Of course, successful people are lucky. In one way or another luck played a fairly large factor in your success at some point in life. That doesn't diminish any accomplishments because all successful people have some kind of luck happen at some point. There is no equality and never will be either. I'd hate equality because humans aren't built for it. That doesn't mean people can't succeed anyway and that's the American dream. Success can be established with hard work, dedication, and some luck. Hell, you don't necessarily need all 3. You can still be proud. you accomplished things that many others probably couldn't or wouldn't. No reason to get upset though. Push it forward. help another person achieve success. Spread the love. It's all good then.
