I think you are all forgetting that this law now makes it legal for Indianans to shoot homosexuals on site. I'm unclear on whether they have to post a "no gays" sign first. It's basically like the middle east in Indiana right now. Only, since there's no oil in Indiana, we're not gunna put up with their shit.

Hoss confirming he lives in an alternate universe.

Jim crow laws went away because the nation realized that segregating based on race was tearing our society apart at the seams and that those practices were, at mnimum, a violation of the founding principles of this nation.

The same thing they started realizing about prejudice against homosexuals in marriage and other arenas sometime during the sexual revolution of the post civil rights era.
You keep dodging the point. Why do you idiots think this state law will override civil rights?

Also, lol @ quinloe's post. he did that while I was writing my post.

If anyone is avoiding the issue its you. The reality is that some states do not protect sexuality as a class, and without that these laws in fact codify discrimination against them as a result.

Just because the far right is being retarded on this, you don't have to try and top them by claiming they are as bad as muslimextremistsof all things.

You mean I'm dodging your made up issue because I won't pretend gaydom is a civil rights issue? You're the one saying this state law will override federal civil rights laws and the constitution. I'm trying to figure out how you reckon that'll happen. Now you don't have the excuse of pretending you didn't know gays weren't a protected class.

I'm going to move there because of this law.

It's like a dream come true. I'm going to open the world's finest chocolates store and refuse to serve fat women.
That would be pretty funny. Unlike gay hate being open to interpretation, gluttony is straight up one of the seven deadly sins.

If you think homosexual marriage and gay rights isn't a civil rights issue, you're the one on the wrong side of history and that's really all that needs be said about it.

Teleport us back to 1963 and Hoss is claiming that segregation isn't a civil rights issue because Blacks aren't a protected class.

Talk about some serious blinders.

Hoss, you need to up your game. Completely ignore anyone talking about discrimination and just keep repeat your talking points of "its about religious freedom!".

Sure, it makes it transparent as fuck that you simply have no good arguments on your side, but at least that is better than going with dumb shit like "its not a civil rights issue unless they are a protected class".

You really believe that stopping the oppression of gays isn't a civil rights issue?
No. What I've been saying is that this law isn't going to all of a sudden allow people to start violating civil rights. That's hodj's argument, I'm just trying to illustrate how absurd it is.

Hodj brought up the protected class thing and that was a poorly worded sarcastic response intended to point out that the list of protected classes isn't set in stone.

No, that's just one big fat strawdog argument.

The Civil Rights Act didn't stop people hating black people either. That isn't an argument for not having these laws.

LOL you can't call it a strawman when you actually made the argument.

Or is strawdog something else?

I never once made the argument that "These laws will put an end to discrimination in our society".

That's so asinine it isn't even worth addressing, Hoss.

Actually, yes. It's just that MOST conservatives realize how stupid it is. It's a right to discriminate. That's all there is to it. :|
Yes and all individuals have that right. It's government that does not, in specific enumerated cases.

What power was granted to the state to force people to be nice to each other?
