@ comment about not ditching boots for speed on skarner. In the build I copied didnt have new items mostly. I was wondering how effective really is the gage item, esp on skarner? What about with the new tank item that ramps up to +60 speed + triforce being plenty perhaps? (Granted all 3 would be fun)

I'm kind of pissed the gauntlet finishes up today. Why have the final series of the gauntlet on a damn monday? I mean, by the time I get home from work it'll be close to 6:30 or 7pm which means I'll be able to hopefully catch the reverse sweep from C9 but still, why start at 4pm on a Monday? That's even shittier for central/west coast. I'll be rooting for the c9 Cinderella story. TL is probably mechanically better but their adaption and teamwork needs help. I think c9 would definitely stand a better chance at worlds.
Let's not even talk about the UoL vs Origen series that would be fun to watch too, but GL seeing any of those games since it starts at 11am est. Maybe I'll get to watch some during my lunch hour, /shrug.
I also know I"m going to spoil myself with the results which makes watching the vods afterwards not as enjoyable. Oh well.

Serious question from a LoL newb: what makes LoL different from DOTA, Heroes, Smite, etc.? Is it just that it's simpler for new players, is it graphically better/worse, is the patch schedule different?
I'm not looking for an essay, I just want the short version so I can understand. I was never a big DOTA guy, and so far it feels exactly the same for a newb.

The game play will feel largely the same. The big difference being there is no really long CCs and no denying. Aside from that you also have runes/masteries that DOTA doesn't have.

Also League is basically all "skillshots" whereas DOTA has few afaik. Means higher skillcap for mechanics on a lot of champs. League still has the braindead easy point&click champs, but they are becoming rarer after every rework.
People say League is "easier" but it's not really the case. They are both challenging games. The only reason people say League is easier is because there's no "denying" but League's champ mechanics are greater.

Skillshots as in ways of targeting that are reliant on the player? I've noticed that a bit with champs like Azir or Thresh. Abilities don't work in linear ways. It's fucking hard.
I'm really new, so I've just stuck to champs like Annie where I feel like I'm on more solid ground. Pew pew, AoE bear, gg.

Yeah, I was using it completely wrong to start. I didn't realize that summoning him was an AoE, I thought he just popped up and hit stuff.
I want to try a control character soon, but I don't feel confident enough in how I play just yet. Azir looks like a lot of fun though.
