I'm not sure how I feel about season 6 so far. On the one hand, it seems like the writers are taking advantage of the fact that we have an intimate knowledge of all the characters in the show and are staying in their comfort zone. On the other, I still think this is among the best (if notthebest) written show on television. Everything about the show works really well, and I've never thought that even a single hair was out of place at any point in the show's history.

I was going to rewatch it all over again with my wife from the beginning, but I'm afraid of the conversations that may present themselves concerning Don's fidelity and the lack of strong women characters. Any of you gentlemen watch Mad Men with your wives?

Dunno where you're getting this lack of strong women characters. Joan and Peggy are very strong women characters. The setting is why they're weak. Their weakness comes mostly from living in the '60s, not from personal weaknesses. Even Megan is/was a very strong character. She's facing a massive power gap in Don being ~15 years older than her, the most important man in the company, AND his personality characteristics. She's quite young and stands up to him all the time, something no other girl we've seen has done.

The only complaint with S6 I have is that it's starting to drone on Don a little bit too much. We've seen this with Don before, every part of it. He's stagnating. He's not really even regressing. He's just stagnating.

And that's fine, and it's well written, and it's complex, and it's completely believable. Megan getting a bigger part in the soap opera is a really nice touch. Don himself is starting to FEEL like a soap opera.

We get it. Don is busy being Don to the max. Show us some of the other characters! They're all so good, stop hiding them. Even Harry, one of the weaker characters in the show, is pretty good!

As far as criticism and complaints go that's probably the best sort you can receive.

As long as they minimize the amount of Betty and the kids we're forced to watch I'll be happy.

I thought Sally's character was developed in a positive way quite a bit last season.

Yeah, Sally is the shit. Her exasperated voice as she tells Betty to go fuck herself is hilarious.

I liked Sally's plot from last season and I like the actor, but the real danger is that her character is getting to the age where the most realistic storyline would be annoying emo teen bullshit. I don't want that in my Mad Men.

I don't know, Don dealing with an emo teenager in 1969 could be pretty interesting. Look forward to seeing how they handle Woodstock and the seismic shift in pop culture that accompanies it. I'm betting that Peggy will do a much better job at keeping up with the times than Don will.

Yeah I'm really looking forward to seeing sally get involved in the whole counter culture movement and how don reacts.

That sounds about perfect, tbh.

I'm betting that Don says fuck it and buys a farm in kentucky.

Watching them deal with historic events is always good. Don's speech about his kids was really good too.
