Haha, from that season 7.5 video, they definitely look like they're in the 70s.

Jessica Par? is so hot...even with those teeth.

It definitely had a very 50s vibe to it, though. The music, the way the characters dressed and acted, so I see what Elurin means.
Yeah it takes time for any given decade to develop it's own cultural vibe. The 60's in particular changed so much in the later half.

The 60s are perhaps the fastest our culture has ever changed. You start the decade with "The Twist", "Please Mr. Postman", and "Sherry" topping the charts and end with "Aquarius", "Honky Tonk Woman", and "Light My Fire". At the beginning of the decade, people were watching "The Andy Griffith Show", "The Beverly Hillbillies", and "Lassie" and ended the decade watching "Laugh-In", "H.R. Pufnstuf", and "Monty Python". It's the decade that gave us the moon landing, Vietnam, civil rights, and women's lib. One of the larger themes of the show has always been the culture shift and how people living in that time adjusted to the rapid changes.

I've been watching The Americans for a couple weeks now. I was kind of meh on it the first few episodes but I'm getting close to the end of s1 and it's really drawing me in.

James Plimpton had a portion of the cast of Mad Men on Inside the Actor's Studio this week, including the dearly departed Lane Price. I never really paid attention to Jared Harris's name and was surprised to learn that he is the son of Richard Harris. His parents divorced when he was ten and his mother was eventually remarried to Rex Harrison of all people. Talk about growing up in the shadows of greatness.

That episode was very strange and felt like something else is going on that we're not being told.

It seemed like Don was loosing his shit. Who is the woman in the coffee shop supposed to have reminded him of? She looks like a cross between Midge (his side dish from the first episode of S1) and Anna Draper (the real Don Draper's wife).

i was confused as fuck too and didn't understand what the fuck was going on with the waitress, but the av club review cleared a bunch of shit up
Review: Mad Men: "Severance" The A.V. Club

rachel is the first older jewish women he fell in love with back in an early season (she owned a dept store, he wanted to run away to LA with her, she said fuck off), she briefly appears in his dreams wearing the furs (i thought that was real so that was super super confusing). The waitress reminds him of her. The waitress fucks him because she assumes the $100 tip is from him, and a fuck is part of the deal. i don't get that at all but there it is. she bluntly tells him that he's nuts and not to read more into his weird dreams.

good shit, kens bits was awesome

It was nice to watch some Mad Men. Looking forward to the last 5 episodes. Also, apparently Roger Sterling was on the cutting edge of the 70's mustache and sideburns.

Last season's Megan. "I don't want anything, Don." This season's Megan "I shouldn't have to explain myself, sign the papers so I don't need an allowance!"....LOL they really amped up the poor qualities in Megan we were discussing earlier in the thread. Don "ruined" her life? When did that happen, when he completely supported her career? Pulled strings to get her acting jobs? Paid for her to live in California? I'm not getting it. What, precisely does she think she "deserves"--they did not have children, she didn't really give up any part of her professional life to be a home maker, either...If anything Don's presence boosted her professional career.

I mean, Don cheated on her, but she was cheating on him in California. I guess she could say Don ruined their marriage, but considering Megan has been wanting her acting to be the focus of her life, I don't see how her "life" is ruined because the marriage went south, she's not some home maker like Betty that put her entire life into her marriage. It seems pretty obvious Megan's career is imploding and she is throwing a tantrum and blaming it on Don, it's just like before she got Don to pull those strings. On that note though, holy shit Harry Crane is a pig. What a smug fuck trying to patronize Megan for leaving.

Don must have reached another level of zen. He's acting like Roger was right after his divorce and the LSD stuff (When he gave Jane the apartment ect). A million dollars? That's roughly 6 million today. I know Don probably has around 15 million in total, but that's a ton of money. And he gave it to her after Megan turned on the full on bitch mode, too. Though I guess that was mostly because she was angry from seeing Roger boffing her mom..Ironic though she was so mad at Don but then turned around and defended her mother's infidelity to her sister in the next scene.

Also, lol@ the mother. Stealing the furniture and then calling Don up trying to be pissy because it was going to cost more to steal it. Fucking hell, I wish there was more of her, she's always great when she's on.

I want to eat Meghans Moms asshole.

that said - I dont remember don actually ever cheating on Megan that she knows of, did he? He was emotionally a wall and wouldnt come to California and eventually they fell out of love. So as far as shes concerned he didnt do anything wrong to her but be the fucked up man she knew him to be.

I think though he was supposed to move to LA and talked her into it, and so she moved there alone and her career shit the bed because she left the soap on his decision. So I guess thats about it.

Shes a entitled cunt.

Megan wants to be an artist, not just a pretty face. She was thriving in New York and had a real talent for advertising, but her parents absolutely ruined her. She ought to be upset with them instead of Don.

harry's really got the moves, huh

and yeah don feels guilty for convincing megan to move out to california which pretty much fucked up her career, and on top of that just ditching her there after he promised to move there too. it wasn't gonna be that great anyways, but in NYC she woulda been a TV star for a while and coasted into shitty projects after that. In California she's just another skinny bitch with big ass teeth.

Don's radar for picking up completely broken women and trying to fix them is off the charts, I don't really enjoy watching it but eh I guess it is what it is. She and Don have zero chemistry and the whole time you are just thinking "what the fuck is this". The bisexual photographer stuff was also a bit strange, I wanna see more Pete, Ken, Peggy, and Roger.
