Yeah, this. Miscommunication, no one got what they wanted, the night ended poorly. It happens. If it happens a lot, then it's a problem.

You would probably have been better off taking a kind but unyielding stance that you couldn't visit. But that is some armchair quarterbacking from someone who has screwed up similar scenarios plenty in the past. It's such an easy trap to fall in. "Fine, I'll do it, but I'll do it half-assed". Which ends up worse than just not doing it to begin with.

I couldn't even get that far, the article is atrociously written. A lot of claims are made without much backup.


I'm not sure I'd use Japan as proof of this. Their culture is very different from Western cultures and there are some parallels that you just can't make.

It's certainly a grossly exaggerated article, but there's certainly something to the whole "checked-out" phenomena. I know a few guys that have "given up" and retired to a life of video games, porn, and the occasional Tinder hook-up. Whether this is due to whole double standard feminist phenomena or because Legend of Grimrock 2 and the occasional no-commitment bang is preferable to a real relationship is up for debate.

If the story went down the way Onoes tells it, and I actually believe it did. Then yes, she is the selfish one. It's not even debateable. I'm having a hard time understanding how you could think he was selfish?

She expects him to come to her
She expects him to be there at a time she deems reasonable
She expects him to stay the night

And she never even asked, she just said "I want" and it wasn't OK if he said no, as evidenced by her reaction through the whole thing.

Of course, there are three sides to every story, and I actually don't care, I just like to stoke the flames. I'm a real bastard.

The things you listed for your friends' retirement activities are all new this generation(and partly last). I don't think the idea of people wanting to quit doing something that's frustrating is new, that's an OLD idea. It's just that quitting bitches without giving up pussy is now feasible for a lot more of the population. And I'm not sure this is a male-specific phenomenon.

Personally, I don't know if I'd give up relationships. I like having someone that understands all the messed up shit that is me.
