I think she's trying to claim you.
It's one thing about gift giving, ESPECIALLY if you've asked her to stop. She's trying to create that compact with you where you owe her something. Not money, just loyalty.
She's trying to bribe you and manipulate you. I'm a little bit ashamed to admit it, but when I was in my early 20's I'd use this tactic myself. If I found one that was a little bit into me I'd just dump all of my money into her so that she'd stick around. And then I'd get super pissed off if they didn't behave exactly the way I wanted them to. It's, ya know. Yeah. Grew out of that at least when I had one of them get really angry at me for doing it. I sort of realized what I was doing and sort of didn't.
This really might not be a bad thing if you like her anyway. It will probably stop if you tell her straight up that she doesn't have to buy your loyalty this way -- the sex is plenty enough.
Or girls really like buying shit and she likes you but maybe she's a deranged long plotting mind control acupuncturist, too.

A buddy of mine has this same exact problem. He ended up putting their kid into daycare twice a week to help. You know what she did then? Nothing. Sat around all day and watched TV. The daycare ended quickly. "Yeah, if she's going to do nothing with the kid around and nothing without the kid around, then I'm going to go with saving $100 a week."
Talk to her, be sympathetic to her plight, but talk to her all the same. The worst thing to do is be silent when it's bothering you.

I've already voiced my concerns, so far there is no change. Although the other day I noticed her picking stuff up and she said something like "Better pick this up before your dad gets mad (to my son)"

This. Find a nice way to say it, but don't just let it slide. It's easier to address earlier and if you don't say something, resentment will build.
Also, don't try to go from zero to Stepford Wife. Try to get her to pick up a little more and cook a couple of times a week, then work from there.
