Yeah, it's better than 99% but not 100%. Still though, odds are slim you'll get pregnant if she was taking it "diligently".

From what I understand the 99.9% leaves off the 0.1% as more of a cover-your-ass for the pharma companies and mostly revolves around if you don't take it on time and human error

Yeah, if a chick gets pregnant while on the pill the odds are vastly more in favor of her fucking up in taking it rather than the pill actually failing.

When used perfectly, the combined pill (which has estrogen and progesterone) and the progestin-only minipill are 99.7 percent effective. But that number drops to 91 percent with so-called "typical use"-meaning the way that most women take them. "In some cases,the failure rate can be as high as 20 percent because they forget to take it regularly or they run out of pills and don't get a refill right away," notes Andrew M. Kaunitz, M.D., associate chairman of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville.

*edit: But I should add if your chick does get pregnant while on the pill whether she used is perfectly/appropriately or not is kind of a moot point. You didn't want a kid you shouldn't be relying on her alone for bc and should also be wrapping that up and/or abstaining.

Did she mess up taking the pill? Most likely. She did seem to be taking it seriously though.

For what it is worth the pill, when used perfectly, is slightly more effective than female sterilization (tubal ligation). Should give you an idea on how low the chances of perfect pill usage resulting in a pregnancy actually are.

Shes turned me away before when she needed to refill and hadnt had a chance to because we were out of town. I know people make mistakes though.

Im just sayin, all signs point towards her taking it properly

There are a million things that can go wrong with the pill. Some antibiotics impact its effectiveness, as do some over the counter antihistamines. Varying the time you take it by as little as 20 minutes can have an impact. and on and on that list can go. It is possible, people, that this was the one that beats the odds. There are good and honest women out there.

We managed to not het pregnant without the pill for two years, 6 months on the pill and it happens.
