Well you talked to the dude for hours maybe use that information to come up with something? Does he like hunting or have a homestead he grew up on? Weekend road trip to visit them and have them show you around their stomping ground, where they met etc. Does he like hunting? Fishing? I think if you just spent time with him and sat and drank some nice scotch or whatever and acted like bros he would be tickled. money aint no thang.

Well guys, today I am getting married. I appreciate all of the advice through everything. Truth is I love my fiance and today will be great. I'll be back in 2 weeks

Any study done that looks at wedding cost (as % of combined home income) to marriage longevity +/- happiness?
I'd be curious at the result and could see it going both ways.

You'd probably see a very odd scatter-plot of results. Take the courthouse marriage (no-cost option), that can either be the couple where neither one of them gives a fuck about money and will be perfectly happy the rest of their lives, or you have the trailer-trash couple doing the shotgun-wedding thing that will be done in two years. I think you'd also see things skewed on the uber-expensive end of things by celebrities who treat marriages more like saying they are "going steady" rather than an actual life-long commitment.

I would be more curious to see the statistics on how long a marriage lasts when the couple lived together for a significant period of time before getting married.

I'm still looking for that. Bt this guy's blog has a ton of stats and analysis on marriage and divorce.
