Absorbing man was dope. The guards
immediatelyopening his cell when he disappeared was retarded though. They know he's got powers, no way they don't use some sensors and shit first. Still, I liked how he was used. There's a tendency to make him just a big meathead type guy, and they had him be a lot subtler and smarter than that with his powers and it was really cool. Not just the stealth stuff, but the non-organic rubber hand to hold the Obelisk. Also we even got a little nod to him and his signature wrecking ball. The guy that cast for him is pretty perfect as well for how he's usually drawn.
Beats the everloving fuck out of Nick Nolte...
The general dude as a non-evil foil is pretty great too. Heroes mayor guy is pretty solid.
Patton Oswalt gets more screentime! Yay!
The real Howling Commando guys from Captain America, including Dum Dum Dugan. Much nicer than just some random soldiers backing up Peggy Carter. I have to wonder if we'll be getting a lot more flashback stuff, pretty minor to bring them in for.
Damien Karp from Franklin and Bash as some sort of immortal Nazi doctor? I can get behind that.
I liked the FitzSimmons reveal.
Ward is gonna be a bit of a Chekov's Gun. Sort of...not sure I'm using that right. We know he's there, he's going to get used for something huge eventually. Plus until then he'll be doling out little bits of Hydra info to keep the story moving along.
All in all other than the minor hammy dumb stuff(the guards, and May riding off slow as shit on the motorcycle while no one shoots her) it was a really strong start.
