I gave up on brown shoes a long time ago, but I think I need to get back into current fashion with them. I always wore them with just khaki dockers pants, or tan slacks and I at least knew never with black. Black slacks just matched so much easier to what I had and so I just stopped wearing any brown.

Gotta get back down with the brown? The Rush Street look amazing, and just gotta pair it with a same colored brown belt, and I'd be good to go! The Park Avenue's look really nice as well for the black. Looks like I've got the styles I want.

Thanks guys.

Edit: For a budget, would these be at all comparable to the Park Avenues?

Seems about the same.

Suede is harder to keep looking nice for years, but that looks like the only difference. I've never really liked the leather/suede combo, though.

Yeah mixing a shiny black with a matted suede may look a bit wonky in person.

AE is actually having a sale on Hautelook today. I don't know if you need a referral anymore to get in but here is my link

I used to wear my black shoes with my khakis. Thinking back I can only imagine people face-palming the entire time. I love me some brown shoes

Black polo, khaki pants, black belt/shoes... I've worn that quite often.

Khaki pants with either a light colored shirt, or a dark brown/green (like olive) and brown shoes.

Another common one I've done is bright blue shirt, khaki's, and brown shoes/belt. That one I think worked out ok!

Trying to find a great deal on the Rush, or some kind of coupon. Going to get the Rush Streets first, but might just have to pull the trigger. I don't expect any kind of deal, anytime soon.

Allen Edmonds at 10% off through TopCashBack.com right now:

Allen Edmonds CashBack: Free Maximum CashBack 10%

You create an account on top cashback, use the portal to go to AllenEdmonds.com and purchase, the funds get credited to your topcashback account and are payable in about a month.

10% is only $32.50 back since the rush street are currently $325 on AE's website. So yeah, might want to check around if there is a clearance on them but it's doubtful.

Good find! AE shoes be AE shoes. Want them? Pay the price. hehe

Curious what these would be good for... As said, I wear jeans about 80% of the time right now, and so if I did these for the brown, and the Park Avenue cap toes for when I have a suit, or black slacks... would that work? These seem even more casual of course...

Those darmstadts are purely casual. You can't dress that shoe up.

The rush streets can be both casual (classy casual) or dressy.

Going to wear them with dark jeans or slacks?! I like the texture of those.

Ya, I don't have much use for dressing up a brown shoe, as I have blacks for that, and my current wardrobe is limited. (away from home, packed only some clothes)

On a budget, and in desperate need of a new shoe that's going to last a while, and be comfortable, I was thinking the Darmstadts would fit the bill.

Edit: Another question just popped up. If I get those Darmstadts, I understand you can never dress them up, but for that type of shoe (non-dress/casual) are AE's still the way to go? Seems to me that AE's are a great shoe, regardless of style, but I wanted to make sure that I wasn't over-paying for a casual shoe, when mabye their casual shoes weren't on the same level as their dress shoes.

Thanks.

If I need something that casual, it's probably going to be a boot. If it's nasty out, it's going to be about function, so Asolo. Their Century GV is pretty functional and "business casual," although not a boot.

Boxer-briefs gotta be the best fashion invention for dudes in the last 200 years besides assless chaps.

Seconded for Asolo for boots though I think of them more like a hiking/outdoors type of shoe company. I have a pair of their hiking boots that are 7 years old and still look and feel great.

There is an Allen Edmond's store near me, and I'm going to go in and tell the dude I need some fashion help! I hope to get a feel for the shoes, and make me feel better about spending $325 on a pair of shoes.... even if I know in my head it's worth it because they will last the rest of my life.
