I think they would be okay if everyone was performing up to their normal standards - but Andrus is mired in his worst offensive season ever and they literally have no DH.

They can't manufacture any clutch hits and basically are winning most games from Cruz, Beltre, and Moreland hitting home runs. That will still win you more than half your games and if you got hot you could make/win a WS that way like the Giants but it's really nerve-wracking trying to win low scoring, 1 run lead games.

It's not like if they kept Hamilton/Napoli/Young things would be better - those 3 were pretty bad the 2nd half of last season and may be even worse on their new teams (except Napoli).
You can have Napoli back to. He's been a black hole in the line up the past 2 months, save for the walk off home run against the Yankees last week. He's on a record pace for k's, and why he's still in the 5 hole I have no idea. Ortiz is being pitched around every game because of it.

He is so lost at the plate lets balls go right down broadway, then swings at pitches in the opposite batters box. Thank god we didn't lock this guy up for 3 years. Have a feeling he's having hip issues. He was killing the ball the first month or so.

That's what that fat fuck gets for slowing down the game. I wish more umps would do exactly what Timmons did.

If I'm not mistaken if they step out of the box, isn't any pitch an automatic strike?
It's up to the umpire's discretion. The umpires don't like being "shown up" by the batter (or the pitcher) by not waiting for the call from the umpire.

It's a bit stupid, but there you go.

texas really only needs one or two bats but it's amazing how fucking quickly they're looking like sellers. i guess the positive of all this is that ron washington will be the first to go.

Fucking Jerry Meals with another brilliant call at home plate to cost the Sox a game. Bring on the robots. Can't watch these morons blow important games. Also, Nava you suck. I never want to see that guy pinch run again.

That call was pretty bad for sure.

Also, Fairchild is a terrible ump as well.
The saddest part on the Meals call was initially he was in the proper position to make the proper call. He for some unknown reason left that spot, and got a good view of Molina's rear end. Just insane MLB hasn't at least put instant replay on game deciding calls.

Tigers pick up a very much needed addition in Jose Veras. Glad to see them finally trying to plug holes in their black hole of a bullpen.

Danry Vasquez was the #4 rated prospect in the Tigers system, according to MiLB. Now he is 16th rated prospect in the Astros system. I can honestly say that I am very happy with what Luhnow is doing to right the Astros' ship.

That's not right, he was ranked 6th a few weeks ago and they've had no other transactions.

Vasquez, 19, will report to Class A Quad Cities. He had spent the 2013 season at Class A West Michigan, where he hit .281 (105-for-374) with 16 doubles, five triples, five homers and 39 RBIs in 96 games. MLB.com had Vasquez ranked as the Tigers' No. 4 prospect.

Hey look, I can do that too.

Houston signed him to a one-year deal last offseason, and the last-place Astros could certainly afford to trade their closer if the opportunity to acquire a solid prospect presented itself. Vasquez is only 19, but he was ranked by BaseballAmerica as the sixth-best prospect in Detroit's system before this season.

Also multiple Detroit Farm system sites have him ranked at 6th.

At any rate it's close enough to not really matter. The Astros farm system has always been deep and has always done nothing for them.

The fuck are you two even talking about?

And no, the Astros farm system has not always been deep. Jeff Luhnow is doing amazing things.
