Good Lord. Hendricks says "Ya know what a mean?" about every other sentence.

BTW I have a vain hope that the Reebok deal will lead to some new gloves. Because Urijah poked the everliving fuck out of Rivera's eyeball. How the fuck do they just let guys throw out open hands at faces so much? Make SOME kind of emphasis on penalizing that shit.

I want to know who scored it 49-46 Lawler. I would have scored it a 47-47 draw tbh. Round 1 Lawler, 2-4 Hendricks, Round 5 10-8 Lawler. I assumed the 49-46 was in favor of Hendricks as well, so I was pretty stunned when dude is like 'AND NEW CHAMPION'.
Same. When I heard 49-46 I was sure it went to Handricks.

The near universal opinion seems to be "That was a fucked up score card. Lawler maybe won because Hendricks stalled. We don't give a fuck either way because we're happy it went his way because fuck Hendricks for using his head to hold Lawler's balls up for 10+ minutes."

Heh, from that article

The MMA world was left stunned Saturday night when it was revealed that Punk, real name Phil Brooks, would be trading in tights and stage boots for cauliflower ears and a pair of four-ounce gloves.
Really, left the MMA world stunned? I thought pretty much everyone said, meh.

Probably, but CM Punk said he was definately not going to fight at light heavyweight (which was the green rangers division). So if he was going to fight and have to drop to welterweight or something it might not be possible.

I don't think Lawler will hold the belt vs. Rory MacDonald either. Might be a contentious couple of years at the welterweight division.

He already beat him once, and if they keep judging against stalling like last night I wouldn't bet against him next time either. But yeah it definitely could look like LHW did pre-Bones.

Some guy went back and re-watched the fight to specifically listen to Hendricks corner. Some telling stuff.

"I was rooting for Lawler last night but I really thought he lost. I had it 49-46 Hendricks so the decision was a shock to me. Thinking maybe I was a victim of Joe's subliminal programming I went back and rewatched on the red cam to see how Hendrick's corner was reacting.

Here are some interesting quotes from them:

At the end of Round 4:

Laimon - We lost this round guys.

Other coach - yeah, we lost this round.

Another coach - we're fine, we're fine

Laimon - He's fucking tired.

So they thought they lost round 4 and it must not have been a surprise to them that some of the judges agreed.

Then immediately after fight:

Hendricks - I lost it

Black coach - No you didn't. It depends on how they scored that first round.

Somebody: Hey was that a 10-8 that last round?

So they knew it was close and could break for Lawler if the last round was a 10-8 or the first round 10-9 for Lawler. Rewatching the first round, I still gave it to Hendricks but it was def close. Robbie outstruck a little but Hendricks controlled a little with his wrestling.

I know Hendricks was feeling broken at the end of the fight so you give the guy a pass on the "I lost it" comment, but this exchange was interesting because in the post-fight interviews he repeatedly said he felt he did enough to win.

Finally, right before the announcement:

Hendricks: Man I'm just tired, that weight cut killed me.

Laimon: I know, I know, I'm not going to let that happen again

I guess that's no shocker. Everyone knows and Hendricks has been open about the fact that he got too heavy in the off season and the weight cut was terrible. Still interesting, and I wonder if there is any blame being put on Dolce behind closed doors.

Also, it looks like "Mike" was their code word for leg kick and "Delta" was their code word for takedown. Or maybe clinch, hard to say.

Edit: fixed quote"

edit: Punk is friends with Chael Sonnen.

Apparently Joe Rogan just verbally TKO'd Schaub on his podcast. It was on his ustream but isn't available now.

Edit - shit, Joe questions his commitment and straight up says he doesn't see Schaub beating any of the top guys. Told him Cain would fuck him up.
