Game is definitely playable on KB&M, just takes some getting used to. I did it all through World and Rise. I tried Wilds with a controller and its honestly hard to go back to a controller anymore.

If the game feels slow and clunky, you obviously haven't tried the weebiest weapon Long Sword. Feels like butter. Problem is that it requires you to get gud and if you're new that takes many hours.

Yeah, same. All KB&M.

Yeah man, you're doing it wrong. That's the best part of Monster Hunter is the combat. You really do get used to it after a couple hours. I would suggest picking a weapon and sticking with it until it's mastered.
I mean I figured as much but there's nothing here to draw me in for a few hours to get into it. Doesn't seem like a bad game, just not for me

If you haven't. Give Monster Hunter Worlds a go. I would be honestly surprised if you didn't like it.

To me the combat is like souls combat but much worse and much clunkier and I think that's my main issue
Try a different weapon. The slowest weapon is the Great Sword by far, and its changes won't really be felt by a new player, so I'd advise not using it unless you're committed to learning it. The two easiest, and fastest weapons to use would be Bow and Light Bow Gun, with the Bow taking more time to get good with, while LBG is rdy to go right away.

This dude is stunningly awful at the game. God damn. he failed out on the Great Sword yesterday and went to Gunlance. Still failed.

Actually pivoted and I'm plYing MH World since I got it for free with ps+ at some point. I'll give it an honest 10 hours or so

Man watching all these previews has me pretty pumped, long wait until EOM. Sounds like it's going to be MH:W levels of updating/improvements across the board - love the idea of seamlessly going from hunt to hunt to hunt in the game world, love dual weapons accessible at all times, and really like the mon designs we're seeing. My biggest gripe is the release date - I have a 3rd kid coming into this world due on the 26th.... Going to start penetrating to get that labor going early.

For anyone new to the franchise, if you enjoy arpgs, fps games, souls like games and character progression I think you're really doing yourselves a disservice not playing these games. It took me a few hours to "get it" in MH:W, but once it clicked, the game became like crack. Probably top 3 Springbok all time games with Elden Ring and CP2077.

So I downloaded MH World just to play around with the Light Bow Guns I have in that game because I wasn't quite sure how much is changing in Wild. The LBG is getting quite the mechanics change, as I thought while playing Wilds. The two changes to its base behavior are the reduced number of Special Ammo (down to 1 from 3), and locking Rapid Fire behing a new mechanic (Energy Mode). The addition of the Focus mode attack is pretty nice though, but the "tracer" bullet follow up attack (with the beta gun at least) is bad. I'm a bit disappointed.

Yeah, here is hoping they have different types of LBG specials.

Odd, I could enable Frame Generation in the Benchmark by using FSR rather than DLSS (on my 3060), avgeraged 83fps.

I had just reinstalled windows 10 not long ago and didn't realize this was a thing (maybe win 11 has it on by default?).
To get frame gen with DLSS in 10 at least you need to enable hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling in display settings > graphics settings.

Mine on Win11 is on, didn't even know that existed so can't imagine I flipped it. Relatively fresh install, maybe two months ago?

2500+ hours in MHW. Never tried the bows out.
I tried LBG with sticky ammo to farm Safi easier. The Aquashot was great at breaking parts if I remember right. Anyway, the whole "making ammo on the fly" thing really turned me off. I imagine it gets more natural with time, but it really put me off the weapon(s). Like hatorade said, different playstyle completely. Had a buddy who played HBG through all of World and Iceborne and he loved it.

I main'd Bows in World but I do want to go with something new for Wilds. Just not sure what. Maybe LBG/HBG? I suck with the more complex shit like CB/IG.
