All I know is I hit 50 on day 2; I think I am now on 65 or something stupid. I am just now approaching 100 (mid 90s) on skinning and harvesting. I need to make a ton of ammo or something to catch up my Engineering. My higher level crafting is all falling behind, since I am caught up in the pinwheel leveling race to 60. We have a number of folks 50+ in the company on Nepenthe, and I am just now about to be 28. I only have a few hours to play in the evenings but still. I am enjoying my time, though. I don 't want to race through too hard because there will be no going back for this game. There is no reason to ever level another character again. This game is definitely one time through. Who is going to reskill another character, and for what purpose?

You have to make a point of murdering all the nodes and trees you see on the way to/from quests to keep gathering skills up. Or set aside time to just farm them up.

Currently 111 logging and 77 fishing as my lowest two and I will probably finish fishing before logging <_<. 150+ in everything else gather/refine. 100+ in the various crafts.
I'm actually digging it as almost all of my 40 levels are from just doing trade skills and the main story/solo pvp while gathering. I think I'll continue to a minimum L50 this way and then go finish the map quests out from L50+. Pretty sure you could a 1-60 run without doing anything but gather/refine/craft and maybe a minor amount of killing for skinning which is neat alternative.
On the complaint side after maintenance I was getting A LOT of desync during pvp today which was absolutely fucked. Hoping I just had a bad internet day because if this becomes normal for me it's going to kill my desire to play real quick.

I decided to start doing town boards, mostly because I want my T4 house, and I realized getting to 30 in a city is going to level me way more than I want.
Like, I don't want to go from level 45 to 55 just grinding away at city rep and miss the rest of the game, but that appears the case.

I experienced some of this as well, seemed to come and go. most of day.
on my complaint side - After two wars last night we tried to capture Everfall after the guild who owned it split up on syndicates. We rushed people there for pvp quests got it to 77% with about 40 people in an hour, then our ~5 level 55-60s left to go do some epic farm mob or something. at least 60+ syndicates showed up to run pvp quests in a pack and started taking it back and its down into the 20%s now.

I just got 100 yesterday, it was my last sub-100 harvest skill aside from fishing.
Feels like the harvesting exp is kind of buggy. Logging goes too slow. Skin/tracking is about 10x quicker. Mining is in the middle, but for nodes like the red-glowy Lodestone, you sit there plinking at it for 10 minutes, then it gives you the same exp as a small iron node? /boggle

I can see moving to another server and starting a new toon if the current server turns to trash. Pvp politics have ruined many servers in different games over the years. Depends on the cost / restrictions of server transfers when they go live.

Won first war last night. I got put on cannon duty, which I liked more because that is what I used to do in Archeage. We took out the fort guns ASAP, then swapped to repeaters to support the points.
Anyone try the fire cannons? Says they are anti infantry, so I assume they are mostly area denial?

Seems like there is zero point to starting a new character in this game unless you just want to grind all over again.
You can max out all skills on a single character and respeccing isn't that expensive, so there are zero limitations (or, to put it another way, no way to differentiate your character from any other). Only one race as well, so visual differences aren't much of a thing, either.

Did my first outpost rush today, it was pretty fun. It's basically an AV copy. Neutral mobs, gathering resources, summoning big bosses and all. You queue up 40 people and it splits them into 20v20. You're guaranteed to be sided with your party, but the rest is random.
Endgame sorely lacking though, as we all know and as I have worried about for a while. There's almost nothing in shattered mountain. Just run around and loot chests and kill a few minibosses.
Still having a ton of fun though... for now. They just better have 3 full teams on content and get some out asap if they want the game to survive.

Wonder how they'll handle 'full' servers for the transfer. I have a few friends who didn't make it onto Vingolf, but most of them did.
I always feel like these games that prevent character creation on full servers should have some kind of limited refer a friend system where someone with an existing character of a certain level can allow a friend to bypass the restriction. Same thing with FFXIV.
