Revis to patriots

Le sigh

Don't really get the one year deal though. I don't think he is the piece necessary to win the Super Bowl...or even get to it.
Patriots like "show me" contracts. But with Talib gone, they really needed someone solid in their secondary. Their secondary had been dogshit until they got Talib.

and talib's problem was he was fragile.

had him for 2 years EACH year he played maybe 1 quarter of the most important game of the season. when healthy he was great.

revis - is a better corner than talib and Talib made the pass defense good-not great but Good.

Revis - should make the pass defense....very good- if they can nab a hard hitting strong safety & a pass rusher it potentially could be great.

Revis has to be a one year rental...no way BB is going to give a CB a second $16M+ contract. Especially if/when the holdout talk starts.

This FA season...I dunno. The Redskins have gone from the free agency laughingstock of the league to doing mostly nothing at all. I'm really glad the FO isn't raining bad contracts on aging stars anymore, but really, nothing? This is a 3-13 team...surely they could have gone after a few impact guys. You need good players to win more than 3 games in pro football. Subject to change my opinion if they replace Orakpo's franchise tag with a sensible long term deal, I guess.

I know this is a foreign concept to you Skins fans, but when you need a bunch of players in order to build a better team, you wait until free agency has been going on a while then grab role/system guys on the cheap after the early frenzy has passed. So doing nothing at all this early is actually part of what you've been wishing for instead of jumping in to FA immediately.

So far, thinking Broncos are leading in the FA market, made some really good signings so far. Shouldn't be a big issue for them but wondering who they have in mind replacing Decker

On an off note, Elway has been stellar for the Broncos from the beginning of his career till now. Pretty amazing.

1) A lot of times with first time head coaches, they raid the side of the old team they were responsible for. The only relevant Bengal is Tackle Anthony Collins, and I hear the Redskins are indeed interested.

2) With a rebuilding team, the wise move is to just not get involved, at all, for 48 hours. Once all the big money is spent, then you go after the guys who fell through the cracks, because you need to pick up players in bulk for less money each.

Sorta amused by Jared Allen's "I'm not playing for chump change" line. On one hand, he should ask Urlacher how a future career that consists of one Madden ad sounds. On the other hand, at that age, I'm not sure I'd be risking a serious injury for just the league minimum either.

Funny though, dunno what the terms are yet besides the 5 years. Sounds to me like the Raiders owner got cold feet, all that shit talking about this deal got through to him.

the team was believed to be offering something closer to $6 million in average annual value with incentives for playing time (read: staying healthy).
So 30 over the 42.5 the Raiders offered.

I really hope we're able to resign him. He owned at LT for us this season. Didn't allow a single sack. Michael Johnson was also a relevant FA but he's already been picked up.

Bengals never make moves in FA and I'm OK with that. As long we keep drafting good players and keeping most FA doesn't have as much appeal. Bengals have done well with pickups like Terence Newman and Adam Jones, but those weren't big deals.

Pleasantly surprised by the Revis signing. Not a typical Pats' offseason move. But with the 7.5m Hernandez cap hit coming off the books next year they can afford to re-sign him for a few seasons, or at least Franchise him.

i would punch my wife in the face. Either way, sproles to eagles for a 5th rounder. Should have insisted on a third imo.
