what would the cap hit had been if they put him on reserve retired?

I'd be willing to bet he decided to retire before they decided to cut him.

I'll do all 3, kept as back up, retired/reserve/normal cut and June 1st cut.

Cap hit 24 million to be a back up, Cap hit for retired/reserve/cut 19.6 million and finally cap hit for June 1st cut 10.7 million, which means next year Romo will eat 8.9 million of cap space.

It's obvious to everyone but Ambiturner that Romo considered retirement and worked out a deal with CBS and made the decision to retire and Dallas in an effort to spread the hit out over 2 years June 1st cut him afterwards. No way Romo works out a deal that fast after being cut, Ambiturner is just doubling down on stupid.

Or, like everyone on the planet other than you, he knew he was going to be cut for months and went the CBS route instead of free agency.

You do realize we all knew he was going to be cut except for you, right? It's bizarre your trying to claim victory when you're the only one who was wrong here.

Ya he was definitely getting cut. We all had been saying it since week 6 of the regular season. Only a real retard would believe otherwise.

Good for Romo though, if he does that first pre-season game he'll at least get a chance to see the hall of fame.

What happened first, he announced his retirement and signing with CBS or his June 1st cut designation. Jerry said he would keep him as a back up, the difference was 5.1 million. Everyone who knew he was going to be cut in February were wrong, everyone who knew he was going to be cut on March 9 were wrong, I was right. Romo retired and they cut him afterwards, I was right, deal with it.

Really makes me sad he isn't going to lead either the Broncos or the Texans to a Superbowl win over the Cowboys.

When did Jones say he was keeping Romo as a backup? Plus, if Jones was playing hardball like you claim, there is no reason to cut him when he's just going to retire anyways. What does he gain?

I even brought up Romo retiring earlier this offseason and you said it was retarded and Jones would let him and keep all rights to his contract.

You're delusional in thinking you've been right about anything.

During the combine, I linked the video in this thread. You're misrepresenting what I said, I didn't say Jerry was playing hardball I said all along he should. There is a difference between saying should and is, hell want me to go find the quote of me saying I don't know if he is going to be traded but they aren't just going to cut him without trying to get something first. They should have retained his rights, but they wanted to spread the hit out over 2 years after he announced his retirement.

Romo would have to take off the entire first half of the season to even pray to be able to play in the playoffs with his current body

So is this true he's replacing Simms? That's pretty great, because fuck listening to that guy.

All of a sudden I'm a super Romo fan. Simms was worst guy on TV.

I still think a lot of Romo's stats were inflated, especially stuff like the 4th quarter rating when he's putting up big yards in garbage time. But he was a very good NFL starter for a stretch of years and you'll always wonder if he had more around him earlier in his career what they could have done.

I can't understand how any red blooded male would rather pack it up and quit playing after being cucked and humiliated like he was last season. What a dickless faggot. He has the rest of his life to do commentary and only 4-5 years left to play ball.

Dude on ESPN radio is saying that he was going to go to the Texans but "CBS came at him with an offer that was too good to pass up". Also he might be calling golf matches as well as football games.

I just hope this means we never have to hear Phil Simms call a game again.

The dude's beat to hell, why come back for more of that just to prove something with a team that isn't likely to prove anything. Taking the broadcasting gig seems reasonable.

I don't know, the Texans had the NFL's top defense last season and they didn't even have JJ Watt. Combine that with their shit tier of a division and Romo makes them one of the favorites
