Oilers continue to suck. If we finish far out of the playoffs this year, which is starting to look likely, it's time to fire the GM (and Kevin fucking Lowe). Nothing Tambellini has done in nearly 5 years as GM has improved the team to any great extent. You can't count drafting first overall as something he did, unless you think he intentionally tanked the team to get there. Otherwise almost all of his trades and signings have been busts. His job is to build a solid veteran core to play with the young skill. The young skill is for the most part holding up their end of the bargain (RNH and Eberle have been a bit slow to start and Yakupov looks like a rookie but otherwise Hall, Gagner, Hemsky have been putting up points). The bottom six forwards and most of the defense has been terrible.
Opinions on Hall's hit on Clutterbuck? Personally I don't think that as a knee it was that bad. To me it didn't look like he intentionally led with his knee, even if it was knee on knee contact. However Clutterbuck never really had possession of the puck, which compounds it. Hall was trying to destroy him with a huge hit when he wasn't looking, and caught his knee in the process. I'd imagine a couple game suspension is likely.

As a Wild fan your opinions on the hit echo mine. It was a pretty dumb hit given the game situation and Cal definitely didn't ahve the puck but I can't really blame Hall there with how fast the game moves now. I think it was completely unnecessary but I didn't think it was dirty. Whatever suspension comes can probably be argued either way. Nothing to make a big stink over though.
Starting on the 24th, they play at least every other night for almost the rest of the season.

at this point unless the Caps can rattle off a decent winning streak basically NOW, they should start showcasing/protecting assets that should be moved. Unless they are going to re-sign Ribierio he should be shopped hard to a contender that needs help down the middle. See if we can get even bag of pucks for guys like Poti or Hamrlik. Might be able to move someone like Eric Fehr as well. Also if the idea is we likely won't contend next year should try to move Jason Chimera for something and maybe even Joel Ward.
Go full sell off, and stock up some picks/prospects for whenever Forsberg and (hopefully if ever) Kuznetsov come over.

If i never hear another word about the Caps, canadiens, lightnign, sabres this season i'll be happy. Getting really sick of playing the same teams repeatedly.
I can't recall a time when the fans didn't at least give a half hearted applause to an injured player when he gets up.That's pretty sad Edmonton. No troll here.

People around the league seem to really dislike Clutterbuck but I don't really think he's a dirty player at all. A ton of hits but no suspension record. I honestly think he's one of the better players in the league with that rep as he's actually got some ability on offense too. People up here sure love him. That's how home towns work and I understand that, but I really think he's a hard player to find dirt on if you really look for it.
I think he has the record for most hits in a season, or close to it anyways.Those players are only liked by their own team/fans. lol

Was like '09-'10 today. Nice to see Ovechkin get the hat trick, maybe it will help his confidence. Then again he wasn't going to shoot 7.4% all season either and had been getting chances lately, so it was probably due. I hope this doesn't lead to some improvement and us ending up around 10th in the East to ruin draft position and still miss the playoffs though.
Zdeno Chara with the goal of the day at least.. a 6'9" spinorama is hilarious looking. He didn't even smile when he scored.
That was a pretty sick goal. On the defensive side of things, Zdeno has kind of sucked this year though. He has 2-3 bad defensive giveaways every game it seems like.
He's been like that for a few years but his 25 minutes on ice and 97% good defense play makes up for it.
