No one else has them online because they are deterring scalping which is why they are forcing people to go into stores
This doesn't hold water though, because if production is meeting the current demand, the best possible way to cut out scalping would be to make them readily available at Amazon. No one pays a scalper when Prime will have it on your doorstep in two days.
For whatever reason (misguided strategy, incompetence at manufacturing or supply chain, etc), they aren't producing enough of them to prevent scalping via availability. I don't think the demand for the Switch is off the charts huge, but I DO think Nintendo is fucking up by not keeping them on shelves while there is excitement for them. The fact Nintendo has done this repeatedly (Wii, NES Classic, Switch, maybe others?) leads me to believe they fucking suck at forecasting demand and setting up a competent supply chain.
Nintendo doesn't make money on scalps, and nothing puts normal people off like having to pay some fuckwad a bounty for holding your family's toy hostage. So congrats to them on losing revenue.
