Not a big pirate by any means, but I think the game was way better via emulation than trying to play it on the OG switch, especially in handheld mode.

You can but getting the emulators is painfull right now, Nintendo shutdown all the github repo's that had any kind of code that can be branched back to Yuzu/Ryujinx.

They shut them down cause of how close the actual chip is in switch2, I wouldn't be surprised if we see some really early development builds of a Switch 2 Emulator shortly after people can get there hands on them, and dump the firmware to get around Nintendo's bullshit.

I thought Odyssey was pretty good and the closest I’ve felt to Mario64 since Mario64. 100% agree with ToTK though that’s the first Zelda I’ve failed to finish.

The biggest head scratcher for me in Odyssey was realizing I could purchase stars with gold and skip 50% of the content if I wanted. Felt like that was a really strange decision.

WTF, an "announcement" with no actual info and no more news until April (which is even more fucked up since everyone has been saying it was releasing in March)...

if you are in LA/NYC/Dallas you can reg to try the switch 2 in person in April, which probably means system isn't launching until May


i've also seen people who leaked stuff in the past say the price is gonna be $450 for the base system or $499 for a bundle with mario kart 9. yikes.

will i still buy it? yes, even though i haven't even turned on my switch in a year.

Iv heard it speculated that they did this since they wanted to let 3rd party devs be able to announce games for Switch 2. Which its reveal now allows them to do.

Well, it's a bigger Switch alright. April event means no release before June, imo.

I'm in the same boat. I restarted it of late to play FF pixel remastered.

The way the controls attach looks more flimsy to me.

That looks fine but really nothing that exciting so far. Certainly not at basically twice the price.

Also there is a male connection point on the switch 2 for controllers.

Looks like something that will break or wear out and/or make it difficult on 3rd party controllers like our beloved Hori split pad pros.

The problem with both of those games is they felt like a massive fetch quest. Mario64 had, what? 120 stars. Simple. But when you have 1000 stars or 99 billion kurok seeds? Fuck that. I have better things to waste my time on.

Yeah, the whole thing seems like a big dumb gimmick, as does the laser in each joycon that lets you use them like a mouse. Hopefully Hori can just delete the gimmicky stuff the same way they ignored rumble, NFC, being able to detach them, or even having batteries at all on the Switch. Otherwise it'll probably end up costing $100+ for a set and they might decide there's not enough of a market for it. Guess I don't really care too much though, without a OLED screen this thing is going to be almost exclusively docked.

Edit: I also wonder if the current Pro controller (and better options like PowerA Fusion Pro and 8bitdo Pro 2, etc.) is going to work just fine with the Switch 2. It'll really chap my ass if I have to buy new ones just because of something stupid like the C-button that I'll probably never use because I don't touch Nintendo's online services.

Speaking of the Split Pad Pro, anyone else have a problem with the sticks starting to decay? Like how rubbery plastic starts to become gummy when it gets old. I have the very first (Daemon X Machina) version, but still... never had that happen with any other controller no matter how old they got. Trying to figure out if it can just be fixed/cleaned somehow, since I really don't want to buy a whole new set when the Switch is basically obsolete.

Apparently Switch Physical / Digital Games and Pro Controlers will work with this. Makes it a much easier decision to upgrade if a game comes out that looks like a must play.

The only thing that would have me rushing out to get one of these would be a new xenoblade game or a xenosaga remaster.

I think I'm likely not going to be interested until there are several first party games out and an oled model.

Maybe if there is some crazy trade in deal but meh.

I'll get one eventually I'm sure.

I'll be pretty annoyed if XCX doesn't have a Switch 2 upgrade available right away, seeing as the game is being released so close to the console.

But even if most of my current Switch library only benefits from the massively increased load speed from the new storage it'll still be worth it imo.

I agree there but the only thing I really have left to finish that I'm playing on my switch is Persona 5 and Octopath traveller 2. Not sure it really matters that much at this point.

I've already beaten X on my Wii U, game was amazing until you could fly then the challenge and fun exploring disappeared.

Ill pick it up again probably but I can wait. Never played the Xenosaga series though.

I could play it on my Steam Deck but my backlog and lack of time have me waiting to see if it's ever remastered, however unlikely.

But I really just want their hardware to be good enough third party games aren’t shit on it for once. But then, that’s why I have a PC and PlayStation.
