Oh for fucks sake Chaos, you are smarter than this. CREDIBLE threats matter, not bullshit. You really think its credible for "9/11 style attacks" for showing this film?
If you cave to this shit, you might as well just never show any controversial film again. Forget showing anything religious or touching on politics now that we have a precedent that any threat means instant total collapse of the film industry.

It isn't even Sony, it is the theaters. I really don't know if the threat us credible or not, honestly neither do you. But it was enough for theater owners to get real conservative real quick. And after Aurora I don't blame them. What you call cowardly I am thinking was just a botton line decision.

1. Cheney admitting what he had done was torture and that torture is bad.
2. Merlin getting off government assistance.
3. Bmizzle posting a coherent sentence.
4. General Coward actually having the balls to do what he talks about.
5. Lightning flying out of my ass.
6. Araysar admitting Russia sucks.
7. Lumie curing cancer with garlic.
8. Johnny49 getting every STD imaginable.
9. Prostitute picking up pills on your porch and leaving immediately, nothing happening after.

Yeah, sure. But burning a theater or a lone gunman mass shooting are completely plausible. It isn't your money, the people who own the theaters don't want to take the risk. Really that's the end of the story.
As for whether or not they did it, we know they have been actively building attack cells using resources and techniques they get feom Iran, and we know they were likely involved in the Aramco hack back in 2012 . And we know they could have made off with millions, they very literally owned the network, and they didn't, instead opting to embarrass the execs. I don't see why it is so far fetched.

My point was that for someone to say "check with me" or wish they would have checked with me first implies that they actually have some saying in the outcome. In this case he didn't, as far as the business decision to not come out with the movie in whatever time frame.
Of course nobody wants to bow to terrorist but I'm going to guess Sony actually has some sort of plan in place or is working on it. But to say check with me implies that the president could have persuaded them to do anything different when Sony is in the business to make money, not friends and politcal allies.

No, what it could mean is that he has some information that could be useful to the cowards (like, no really, NK doesn't have sleeper agents able to pull off 9/11 style attacks) or that he could give them some additional protection to help them come to a decision not based on cowardice.
Only in your Obama Derangement Syndrome mind does it mean that Obama wants to order Sony to do something.

Let me try and engage you more seriously. If you read the rest of this thread, you would know that there are theaters willing to "take the risk". Why shouldn't Sony give them permission to show the movie?
