It's not like going to the movies is an essential thing anyone has to do, it's a form of entertainment and there are many alternatives. Many people wouldn't even consciously make the choice to stay away due to the threats, it would just be in the back of their mind as they choose one of their many entertainment options and sway their decision away from the movies.

when an indy movie comes out, they will show it at limited screenings and based on how well they do decide if they want to distribute it to many theaters. there are a lot of theaters still willing to show this movie. if sony were smart they would distribute it to those theaters and it will sell the fuck out. when the major chains see that these threats meant jack and shit then they will also change their minds about showing this. then all of america can laugh at that pissant little small town of a country trying to hold america hostage.

I guess I see the point on commenting because it's a hack of a foreign country, but saying Sony made a mistake for pulling the picture....seems like a stretch for the POTUS.

No it looks like to me Obama actually poking his ass into something he should this time. "I wish they had spoken to me first. ... We cannot have a society in which some dictatorship someplace can start imposing censorship." - is exactly what he fucking should say. He should have a screening of it at the whitehouse and stream it live over the internet.

Except there are Federal agencies who are now involved, if Sony had just dealt with this on their own without any outside involvement you would have a point. Since all of America now knows or believes it was North Korea deciding what we can see or not see the President was 100% doing his duty to speak publicly.

If sony hadn't pulled it and one person got so much as a skinned knee the president would have been saying they should have considered public safety and pulled it.

No, a president shouldn't give his opinion on it - period. It's not a fucking state secret here. It's a fucking movie.

Now if he wanted to express his opinion on the hacked emails or whatever then so be it. But publicly saying Sony should check with him first about how they run THEIR business, fuck that.
