eh its 2 things really, 1 is yes my "dps" isn't doing shit when I have 4 golds as a tank, other thing is other team is so bad they can't avoid some chick running around with a death beam killing them. Obviously medals don't matter but they at least show something.

A good Zarya will have at LEAST 2 gold medals and usually 3 and a silver depending on make up. I've 4G'd with Zarya probably most Plat/Diamond matches I've played with her. It's amazing you did 10k damage and only 13 elims though. DPS needed to probably pick the supports off better.

I mean, I figured it was the obvious.. that you know he has 4 bronze players as a gold player? I don't know if thats normal, but its pretty mindblowing when it happens to me where I will queue at 3800 and 3 - 5 diamonds on my team.

We're also missing a lot of data, like time and such, but w/ 10k on zarya being gold.. his dps is absymal as fuck. Esp as Pharah, you can easily AVG 15k w/o even trying. Seeing something like 20k+ on a pharah should be easy. Can't say shit for reaper because its pretty comp based, and Genji is a low damage/high kill champion.

Is your "just bronze things" referring to your own mindset where you think medal matter and are a sign of being better than the rest of your team? If so I agree you seem very bronze.
it matters, but not in the way you are thinking, if him as a Zarya, got all that, that means his DPS did pretty much NOTHING. Zarya is a damned good character, but offensive characters more often then not, should be getting most of the golds. At least one of your offensive team mates. That just tells me other people didnt do their jobs.

oh wait, you don't lose your tag as you drop?

wtf? lol...

I'm not sure on Zarya' numbers for average but for a>b attack i'd imagine 10k gold is pretty good and does say a lot. As a DPS you can go anywhere from easily 17-24k on defense/attack. Considerably less when you get rolled/rolling.

You only lose the tag if you're masters +. Diamond and below can sink all the way to bronze and still flex that diamond tag goodness.

Medals are crazy hard to evaluate. I could foresee a situation where it was a close game, you pumped a ton of damage into Rein shields and tagged most/all of the kills in group fights. Still indicates that DPS wasn't getting picks, but if you have a good healer a tank can get at least 3 golds in plenty of settings.

I know as a DPS, I've been in plenty of games where the enemy team is positioned well and our tanks weren't aggressive enough to make space. It's really hard to get picks in these situations unless you have a positioning advantage (high ground or some sort of flank) or the supports on the enemy team are retarded.

Sounds super cliche, but when I find myself blaming the team for a loss, I usually just find something else to do for a few hours. When I focus obsessively on my play, my mistakes, my positioning and game awareness, I climb pretty easily. When I start thinking about how bad our Genji is playing, I find quickly find myself in the midst of a losing streak.

I used to really enjoy playing drunk, but I hate losing and drunk thought processes in Overwatch usually are the fast track to bronze (as you've acknowledged). It's fine if you acknowledge that it is what it is, but trying to climb out of that is a fucking hassle.

It looks like you had 50% average energy. That's pretty high. That means that your team was probably getting swamped with damage and your healing couldn't keep up with anyone but you, I imagine. Dead DPS don't do good DPS. At that point Rein might've been better, especially for an A push for those nerds to sit behind you. At least past the choke. Again though, a Zarya with 50% average energy means you were probably 80%+ in combat and down while running from rez etc. A high charge Zarya can put out a LOT of damage. Especially if they have static positioned people like a torb/widow/bastion etc and you just lob right clicks at them. Left click will melt squishies too.

Like I said, a Zarya with multiple golds is more expected than unusual.

the more you know~! thats lame though, should always display current rank.

I didn't think he was blaming his team, particularly. Just more along the lines of typical bronze life.. its quite clear he performed well. Like I said there is a lot of information missing, pulling 10k as a zarya.. I don't know her averages is fine and dandy.. but there is no reason, specifically a Pharah couldn't beat that. Again info missing, she could have just got on there. Reaper is variant on enemy comp, and genji is a low dps / high kill champion; technically should beat zarya, but could easily fall behind here too. The comp alone is also quite bad, not enough heals to facilitate a dva and/or pharah, with genji. It's just a whacky comp, not impossible to win with, but harder circumstances. Their only win condition in their current iteration is actually the graviton specifically, applied with a combo ofcourse.

They lack a lot of immediate presence.. but there are all kinds of stipulations and the easiest to point is that the dps wasn't doing much, sure there are variable.. but from what he said, we can take for face value that this was a full attack only, capture a, stalled out and lost b.

I'm all for blaming yourself as the issue, but I think hes just posting the cringe that is bronze. maybe? lol

edit; I don't think a rein would have helped either, his pick wasn't wrong there. It was extended to one of the other players, or him dropping his own pick to facilitate another. I'm not trying to say 2/2/2 is the magic recipe but getting a lucio or ana in any sort of combination would have done dividends for their team. Whether it helped the reaper move in and do damage, or helped both the dva/zarya and rest move forward. Something to alleviate even the pharmercy would/could have done a lot. A lot of hindsight 20/20, but comp wise; its a mess. The Zarya/Dva/x/x/x would be perfectly fine for a dive comp granted that requires execution... that seemed to been lacking.

Oh true, lel, I didn't think to pay attention to that. mfw. Granted, depending on when that happened thats a costly swap.. for a reaper? Unless there was a monkey just dicking on them, you could swap the tank line up to anything that isn't so in and more rook; which zarya is still a mighty fine pick. A rein could be potential, or a road even for better executes, esp on drawskaya.

After falling almost 300SR during the week, I made it back on Sunday, before losing last 2 and calling it a day. I am almost back to season high so it's good.

A few observation/frustration with the state of the game in gold rank right now.

Was too many games won or lost by not being to get past a choke point on a lot of map...Hanamura, Volkskaya, Numbani, King's Row, Dorado(not reaching first point), Eichenwalde, Hollywood etc.. for either 1 team...or often both ending in a draw. I think about 4 of my last 5 Hanamura games ended in a draw or just by taking point A, no one make it to point B. It's a bit boring, being on either side really. King of the Hill seems to be the only fun mode these days.

Too many games simply being decided by who has the better Pharah. This is not new, and doesn't seem to be an issue at higher ranks, but at gold and under it's pretty much the deciding factor for too many games, players don't have the accuracy or teamwork to take her down reliably.

To a lesser extent...Roadhog is countering too many heroes right now. Basically everyone but other tanks are being 1 shotted by him. It's not as bad as Pharah as he's more easily dealt with and sort of requires bad positioning from other players, but still a problem that about 15+ heroes are kind of countered by 1 hero. They need to make the cooldown on the hook longer, and possibly reduce the range of it somewhat. As I said it's not as huge a problem as Pharah, but it's pretty annoying right now.

While my sunday was pretty good in the win-loss record since I climbed about 250points or so...it was bad in that I had a lot of leavers...5 to be exact...3 in the other group that gave me win, 2 in my group which we managed a draw, and 1 loss. Not sure if it was an internet connection issue since I don't remember having had this many in a very long time.

I don't play Mei much in competitive yet, but I did a few times when I thought she would be a really good pick and did ok...I must say though, being in overtime on offense on Volskaya point b, and using her ultimate and killing 4 of the enemies by myself(I was late to the fight having been killed, got there just as my team got wiped so other team had already lost 2, and others were damaged) and then walling access to the point to the people coming back for the win was highly satisfying. :)

I think you're underestimating how easy it is to get across the board golds on Zarya. I'm a trash Zarya player and it isn't uncommon for me to get at least 2 (generally elim and obj) and usually pretty high raw damage output numbers especially if a Rein is on the other side. Similarly if you are thinking since you have golds you must be carrying is an incorrect mindset because Zarya's #1 job is to support her squishies to keep them alive. If she's diving head-long into the enemy team demanding all the healing from support there is a 100% chance she'll be scoring golds everywhere. But will your team win? No fucking way. You're playing her like a dive tank when that isn't her job. Honestly I despise the medals system because it gives this false sense of doing things right when in actuality your suicide tank going "lul gold elims" is the cause of the loss.

There are days I'm playing Tracer and I know I'm being really effective, because their whole team is switching to try to counter me, yet I've got no medals at all and we're just completely stomping.

Medals aren't everything. But regarding them as if they serve no indication of anything, good OR bad, is pretty misguided imo.

Welp, I'm done giving a fuck for the season. Gold pretty much boils down like this.

Is your Pharaoh better than theirs? Yes?= Win. No? = Loss.
Does your Harasser do their job, and you know...Harass? Yes?= Win. No? = Loss.
Did your team pick Torb or Bastion on offense? LOL!! Just afk and take the loss.
Is your 76 and Ana aware the enemy team has a Pharaoh? Yes?= Win. No? = Loss.
Is your Roadhog 1 shotting/hooking enemies? Yes?= Win. No? = Loss.

I really wish I could play a dps class effectively. My aim is just too horrid. Unlike Battlefield I can out play you even with bad aim. But at least I KNOW this and avoid playing characters I am bad at. It seems people just don't get they SUCK at certain characters, or don't give a fuck.

I feel ya Brahma, I'm basically useless unless I'm playing Tracer. I used to be good with Pharah but I can't hit anything now.

You could start taking up winston. He has a pretty hefty skill cap since he's all about proper decision making and engage/disengage. Sure he gets better if you communicate with your Zarya or your Ana does her best to obtain good sight lines but at scrub tiers he can leap in, shield, kill a support and leap out. Rein has a strong decision skill cap but heavily relies on your team being on the same page to take proper advantage of the space he creates.
