I hated those two on x-play. Video is unwatchable because of them. Olivia Munn and the asian gameshows were the only reason to watch that channel

Please continue to lecture us about how the game ran fine when the god damn creator himself says VAST MAJORITY of people did not progress past level 2 or 3.
Clearly the vast majority are a bunch of WoW babies trying to play a real game on their moms netbook. If they knew that PC games have settings, they might have got beyond level 2.

But he is wrong anyway, everyone I knew who quit, just got bored of the game and couldn't handle the grind and the deaths. They all quit in the early teens. I don't think Brad wanted to admit that, he wanted to pretend everyone quit at level 2 and it was all for the same reason. Either way, it ran well for me. Get over it.

Also Vanguard was fun. You all missed out.

That's why it's a thriving successful game with tons of servers?

+1 WoW dungeons being lifeless, by and large. Yes, Strat and Scholo, both better than par for WoW, but still behind EQ's dungeons imo. Despite the grind and bugs that people carry on about so, EQ's world and dungeons were much more interesting and felt much more alive. Sorry, you just can't compare the very static scripted nature of almost completely linear instances to that of open world dungeons. Every trip felt exactly the fucking same.

the voice overs in vanguard were the worst ever. Literally every voice sounded like it was just a developer apathetically holding onto their job while pretending to be a mythical race.

They should have brought a hot microphone into the parking lot to record "downtrodden souls" atmospheric background noise in one of paneltheon's dungeons. Yes. About fifty puns intended.

I enjoyed Cata for a while but once they nerfed the dungeons and added LFR it was over forever.

What some MMO should try and do, if nobody has yet tried this is to introduce a two tiered leveling system. On one hand, you have the normal levels, 1-50 or whatever. On the other is like 1-5. Here's how I'm thinking it would break down.

1. Social gamer. Likes to play the game alone, doesn't really interact with anybody but is willing to learn.
2. Social but active gamer. Generally likes to be left alone, however when the mood strikes them they are willing to go into a dungeon.
3. Dungeon Crawler. Pretty active gamer that will help out his friends/guildies in a dungeon that they need help.
4. Lightly Active Raider. This person is just like the dungeon crawler, except he likes to raid some of the time.
5. Raider. When this person is on its usually for a raid.

Only except exp to gain levels, you have other people rate you on like a star system or something. I suppose that WoW could do it for guilds, so that I could see when guilds are active or if they're just blowing smoke up my ass if they say that they have raids every week, and they do PvP every week. Have it degrade over time, so that the more raids you go on, the better your score will be.

The difficulty combined with the lack of maps made the dungeons seem larger and more interesting than they were. Go try those same dungeons on the phinigel server with maps and piss-easy mobs and you'll see they're just alright. Great design but mostly just repeating art assets.

I vastly preferred EQ's dungeons to the scripted dungeons of WoW. WoW's dungeons were pretty fun the first time you did them, but being forced to run Dead Mines, Gnomer, or BRD ,or whatever more than a dozen times each, I was ready to blow my brains out. I liked getting in a group and just camping way more than having to run each dungeon from beginning to end ad nauseam. Sure, there could've been a lot more dungeons in EQ to spread out the population, but I really enjoyed almost all of the dungeons, especially Solb, LGuk, KC, Seb, Velks, HS, Unrest, Mistmoore, etc...

wow dungeons were lame. I will extend an olive branch to vanguard on its dungeon design, it was pretty damn epic. Going into zihurr mound for the first time blew my mind.

Also another time me and a friend were playing on a beach somewhere, and we saw a shipwreck, that hit an underground temple that was like 8 floors deep.

Wow dungeons were formulaic and bland most the time. though there were a few really awesome ones.

The more recent dungeons with better scaling mechanics (especially the mythic+ in legion) really make for some fantastic gameplay where you can find exactly where your gear / skill ceiling is at. WoW dungeons have been getting considerably better since BC from a design / fight perspective. Only real issue I ever had with WoW design was the increased AE dependence in 3.0 onward but that's been walked back a bit with cleave being more of the go-to option rather than raw AE. Definitely gives more options.
