Taking my time. Minion witch using the build I slapped together a couple days ago. Already up to 14, just got to village before taking a break.Map shows boss is executioner, so yay for that. The play style so far is both more and less annoying than I thought it would be. I would prefer if my minions were beefier, but I am learning how to run in circles until they are back up. Run -> Chaos Bolt -> Dodge -> Chaos Bolt -> Unearth -> etc

Minions are fucked low end. Not sure if they're god mode high end or something, but once you hit ~20 they just instantly die to everything and you're waiting on an 8 second timer to get in your 1 MAYBE 2 seconds of dps before they die again. Real bad. I have to triple stack poison minions just because poison stays around after they die.
Otherwise game is pretty awesome. ACTUAL boss fights feels good, except with uber gimped setups. Definitely missing some speed though from ye ol' quicksilver.

The lack of any unload phases is noticeable. Even like 5 second gaps where you can safely smack bosses don't really seem to exist, you always seem to have to be positioning after maybe getting one or if lucky two attacks off.

I get unload phases when I stack I think the electrocute bar to 1000? Something stacks to 1000+ and when it goes off any boss does a unique stun animation for a couple seconds and I think takes bonus damage. i just don't have much in the way to capitalize on it and it takes a lot to fill that bar.

Well you get stagger at least for physical damage. But at least early game there's no easy way to manipulate that, I typically only get one per boss fight because it builds so slow. It's not like I have enough points to be taking some side path for CC and still be doing any damage right now.

I have faith in GGG. In POE1 minions have always sucked gigantic amounts of giant floppy donkey dong at lower levels. Some entire leagues too. If they are too squishy, look for the life and resist nodes on the tree. There are 2 circle/eye thingies in the NNE quadrant of the skill tree. One is all defense and lowering revive timer, the other is all offense. Those are the ones I am working towards now.

I found unkillable special mobs. They were high resistance with Regen and shields. The only way to do damage was to sit next to them because of the shield, but obviously they melee for a ton. If you moved just slightly they'd regen to full by time you tried to unload one shot on them. I had to flee the pack of them.

Finished act 1 without any trouble with frost sorc. It's great how many abilities I'm using depending on the scenario.. Monsters rushing in melee, frost bomb on myself and spam nova. Ranged, drop bombs on them and spam scattershot frostbolt. Cold snap to pop things at range or for big hits on bosses.
My bread and butter at the moment is frostbolt, feels like spamming frozen orb in D2.

yep. theres body blocking and dodge roll does not phase through.

I went frost sorc as well. i really struggled on the act 1 boss. could not burn him down fast enough. and he would chip me down during the werewolf poem phases.
mostly frost bolt and frost bomb. faster cast(arcanetempo)/arcane surge frost bolt. shorter duration frost bomb (fastforward)
frostbolt is solid overall. aoe, heavy chill/freeze, ok dps. slow proj on frostbolt makes it easier to spam Cold snap or ice nova on it.
Chill in poe2 is ACTION speed, not just movement. all slows are. hinder, chill, temp chains, chrono slow aura. they all also stack multiplicative. however are capped at 50%.
I kind of wrote nova off, since its damage was slow low. surprised people saying they like it. got to try unleash I guess.
got artic armor atm, since none? of the other buffs are any good for cold sorc.
wrote freezing shards off as well. however there are a ton of strong projectiles nodes in the passive tree. also flame wall is godly. had to use flamewall to beat act 1 boss.

Probably a good idea not to spend your coins on cosmetics just yet. Hang on to em and let things settle down. Sounds like its kind of fucky and I doubt cosmetics are going to be a top priority on release weekend.

Act1 boss I just ran in circles around him at long range. Bomb off cool down and spam frostbolt with the occasional cold snap. Boss basically never touched me. Not sure I even used a potion charge.
I have a +1 cold spells wand which helps.
Frost nova is good for when there's swarms of enemies running fast at you. It's quick to cast and freezes everything so they stand still to die to the bomb.

The pack comes with the cosmetics. They were there and available. Just had to hit that MTX symbol for some reason, and they started showing up. No coins spent.
And what kinda fuckery is this with the warrior. The moves are useless as they take FOREVER and mobs just move out of the damn way!
Also, you cant roll thru mobs?
EDIT: Holy fuckin WTF is this shit! Earthquake takes FIVE seconds for the spikes to emerge?

Yeah my only deaths last night came from being cornered by 15 wolves in the forest unable to roll through them and once in the first cave with the larva and bigger worms.
