what they sell depends on class.
spell totem for example, Nessa sells to Marauders, templars, witch, and Scion. but not shadow ranger or duelist.

Guild should be able to help with this. or, use the wiki I linked. look up the skill you want, see who sells it and to who. GO to the correct act, and PM or ask in local chat a player standing there of the right class to buy it for you. This works much better then asking in general.
wither, spell totme, and essance drain are in softcore talison league guild stash page 9. ES is level 12, level 50 req. sorry, didnt have a clean one, and had to buy with my level 81 scion. ahha.
A quick alt can get you a level 1 one.

So I've been playing self cast crit bladefall with the intention of switching over to dual arc totems when I get a 5 link. After finally getting a 5 link and switching, I can definitively say that self cast bladefall is much better. Arc just doesn't have enough single target to be a very viable option. SO...now I switched arc with bladefall and I have a dual crit bladefall totem build and it's completely crushing. Bladefall > Arc

Ahhh.... ok forgot some gems are class specific from vendors and quests rewards. Thanks for the protip.
EDIT: I hopped on my 67 character on standard and they are there but it seems that her inventory populates with more gems as you either get higher in levels or go further in acts. I made a few level 1s on Talisman and none of the gems were there.

yes, they unlock as you do quests. for nessa, first round is getting to Lionsarch, second is the medicine chest, third is unlocking the cave, fourth round is killing brutus. The level of the gems they sell, then levels up with your character. so a level 80 char will get level 16-17 gems, with level 50 or so req. if you want level 1 gems for new chars, you need to scour/regret them. or buy fresh with an appropriate level char.
Or just hop on poe.trade and you can buy them for like 2t. Generally cheaper than a scour/regret but takes a bit more time.
Do people ever really trade in regrets though? When I try and use some not-too-used currency it usually gets shot down. But people are usually pretty happy to swap (at the correct ratio of course) fuses and alchs.

Not really, given the recent chaos inflation, people seem to be valuing exalts much higher and alternate currencies get shot down pretty often. On the other hand, selling some leveling stuff for regrets/scours/fuses/alts is easy if you need to clear out stash.

Considering the PoE servers have been shaky for like a week, I don't know about DDOS, could just be the servers shitting the bed, or his connection. Sucks for him, he had a pretty nice build too.

What's a better way getting loot, mapping or doing boss runs? Also I started leveling a shadow tornado shot ranger using this guide.

So I hit 41 last night and will probably stick it out with this game. I am enjoying it that's for sure.
Finally had one zone that I was getting wrecked in and figured it was time to work on legit gear sooner rather than later. I was checking my stats before logging off and noticed I was at -3% fire resist and it was a fire zone .... that would explain a lot. I beat it though.
I am busy at work today and tomorrow so won't be online so I figured as I read up I will ask a few questions in here.

Where should I be headed right now for a priority in your guys opinion?
Is there a way to link my gear like an armory profile?
Anything I should be doing right now? I am finishing the story because I think that's probably what I should be doing, probably 1/4 way through Act 4. The odd thing about PoE is that the zones are not tuned properly at all. Like the fire zone in A4 seems way, way harder than it should be for it's level. Even with max fire res those totems can just pop up and destroy you. Then the latter parts of A4 are probably double as hard as A1 on the next difficulty level. I also hate the final zones of A3 as well.
