I ended up taking the plunge after talking to Regime Regime and reading a LOT about it. With a VRR HDMI 2.1 set up and seeing the games, and a lot of gift cards for Best Buy I got it for free anyway with nothing else to buy. I recently upgraded my receiver so I have full HDMI 2.1 pass through with VRR 120hz support on everything.

To save time I did the user data transfer only and will transfer the games I want to my M2 on my PS5. Can download the rest otherwise it would have been seven hours to migrate. M.2 just slips right in and you can use it as before.

Mostly I did this for Monster Hunter Wilds and Deliverance 2 but never finished Hogwartz (will start over) nor Dying Light 2 which I guess looks amazing in enhanced. And about four hours into Stellar blade and love it so far so may as well take advantage of it.

In regards to Stellar Blade, if you're not already, please use the Pro setting and not the Pro Max, while also having HFR enabled. Its near perfection.

Will do! I can’t wait to see it.

it’s really convenient to just be able to drop in the M.2 from my PS5, install it on the PS5 Pro and everything just works :)

Is this stuff I can do with a regular PS5? I've got the LG C1 which supposedly has HDMI 2.1 ports (though it's supposed to have 4 and mine seems to have 3...) but only have a regular PS5. If there's a way to enhance it with the right cords or devices I'd certainly like to give it a try.

Yeah. Are you going through a receiver or directly to the TV? If going through the TV make sure to have a true HDMI 2.1 cable (came with your PS5) and enable VRR and such in your PS5 settings. If running through your receiver, need to have a receiver capable of passing HDMI 2.1 or, you could use ARC to run audio and video from your TV back to the receiver if you don’t.

Almost off topic, but what receiver did you end up going with for HDMI 2.1? I can't even remember the last time I upgraded mine o_O

I went with this: Amazon.com

I got it on sale though for 799.

I then also bought the MultiEQ app. For setup, I did the microphone captures but then downloaded the sound profile to my phone and there is a program out there a guy made with two other programs which once I uploaded that sound profile, analyzed it and put it in the best profile I have ever heard. Uploaded that from my MultiEQ app and it’s my main audio preset. Everything sounds fantastic.

If you get it let me know I can find the videos and programs and instruction sets.

So a few tests in the new pro.

Elden Ring: Sweet Christ. 60 FPS in quality mode.

Demon Souls: Stunning. Same as above.

Stellar Blade: Pro with HFR on - the clarity and 80 frames per second holy fucking shit. Glad I got this it’s a huge improvement. (And also glad I skipped out on this game until now)

Dead Island 2: Meh. No video setting options.

Dying Light 2 looks and runs fantastic. 4k60 seems native almost.

Spider-Man 2. Fidelity Pro with RT at 60 frames per second. Knowing it could do this before at 30 was the standard but at 60 frames holy nuts. I might. Go finish achievements now or play new game plus.

Hogwarts in performance locked at 60 looks like fidelity mode.

Horizon Forbidden West: Man. Too bad the game wasn’t even close to the original but it looks absolutely fantastic with tons more detail.

I’m happy with the purchase and with Monster Hunter Wilds having an enhanced day one patch and Deliverance 2, this will be worth it.

Yeah, I’m hearing deliverance 2 will only be 30 FPS on PS 5 and Xbox series X

i still never played the first one so i'll do that first sometime this year and then play 2 next year lol

i just started playing Stellar Blade again on pro today and one problem with taking a break with these kind of games is you completely forget the little combat details, I keep getting hit and i don't know what i'm fucking up, L1 to parry seems simple but i must be missing a timing thing or something. guess i have to re-read/do the combat tutorials, at least this game has GREAT tutorials

You'll always have to adjust to the parry timing after a break. Grab the skill nodes that allow for a better Parry / Dodge window.

Haha I did that two weeks ago.

Not so much caving there though as a game came out and everyone knew we would all pretty much try it :p

PS5 Pro was a different deal though. I had tons of BB gift cards and nothing to buy. Recently already upgraded my Receiver for HDMI 2.1 and VRR throughput - C1 OLED 65 in place - nothing I really needed so the gift cards went to this because I will definitely like it for Monster Hunter Wilds and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

Helps I am also playing Stellar Blade currently and Pro mode with HFR on is AWESOME. With PSSR properly implemented it looks like native 4K and at 80 FPS. And I['ll restart Hogwartz since I never finished it and now have no idea what I am doing in that game so will be able to start fresh.

Oh hey - they have Phasmophobia on PS5.

Our phasmophobia night was one of the wildest gaming nights ever and I still talk about it to this day.

Just joking about pantheon, I saw it pop up on steam haha.
