I'm 30, also raised by a single mother. I never, once, at all thought "good guys win in the end." All you, me, or any other man ever had to do was look at the men in the media that woman were fawning over and aspire to those characteristics. Handsome, charismatic, leader, patient, fair, just... etc etc etc -- these aren't new concepts. Go all the way back to Homer; many of the things that men desire in women and vice versa have remained relatively static. Not that simple, friend. Again, I was brought up by a single mom, and raised by a feminist society. Always being told the good guys always win in the end. Be nice and reap the rewards. Well life does not work that way, hence the need to "unplug".
I don't mean this as a personal attack; but when I hear a man attempt to blame society for deceiving him... I hear someone attempting to rationalize their own laziness and ignorance. Mind if I ask you what your BMI has been throughout your marriage, your health/fitness, and how much effort you think you've put towards looking good?
