I tried that demo during the Steam Next Fest but it didn't do it for me. Jotunslayer: Hordes of Hel wasn't bad though.I picked this up the other day and have been playing it on-and-off. Its a pretty creative twist on the genre. You can unlock all sorts of weird JackieChan-esque type combat moves with the environment, but the combat system is neat too.
Basically you can get different types of martial arts moves and combo them together. However, how well they combo depends on two different factors: the color and the number. Two moves in the sequence of the same color can do a solid combo, but if they're the same color AND their numbers are in sequential order, it adds special effects with more damage to the combo.
Jotunslayer was OK but didn't really wow me with anything gameplay wise. It feels like it will get old.I tried it during the

Been playing the fuck out of Magicraft. Game is fun as fuck. It's as if binding of isacc, hades, and vampire survivors fucked and had a baby.
HIGHLY recommended game. Excellent boss fights later on.

Damn I clicked too fast on the controller on first launch and put the game in Chinese. There's no language settings in the options to change it back. @.@
Uninstalling and reinstalling the demo through BCU didn't help (which removed registry settings and Appdata).
Well I'll be damned, thanks.First options in settings (2nd item in the menu), then first thing that shows up under video.

I think this genre has unfortunately stagnated a bit for me. There's a lot of game systems and ideas that have promise, but most of the games that come out continue to just be grind small meta progression then you're done. This is further hampered but so many being in EA for extended periods. There needs to be a AA breakout fully featured game that does this right I think.
Is there anything to that game aside from unlocking all the potatoes and items? I got a bit bored without any meta progression to change up effectiveness. But maybe I just didn't get far enough, though I didn't see any menu locations for it.Brotato guy could easily charge AA prices.
There is no meta progression besides the unlocks you have mentioned. Some potatoes are different enough that they require specific builds. There's also difficulty levels that you select after character selection, not in the main menu. Lastly, there's endless mode, but I find that pretty boring as it quickly devolves into min-maxing.
Been toying with this a couple of runs a day for the last couple of days. So not much, in other words. I pretty much suck but it is all about experimenting with the builds and wands. Meta progression seems light? A couple of +inv slots, +starting health, but obviously have a lot more to unlock there.First options in settings (2nd item in the menu), then first thing that shows up under video.
