There is a nebula which spectragraphy tells us is largely made out of formaldehyde. Organic compounds are not rare in this universe.

I do think in this case they mean containing Carbon, Hydrogen, and Oxygen. So while still broad, it's at least a bit less broad.

Looks like the effective range is 1 mile. I wonder what the beam divergence is and how much power loss it exhibits at 1 mile. Or if it's able to shoot down incoming missiles.

It's supposed to replace the Phalanx but it says it can't shoot incoming missiles which is a bit odd for a replacement then.
