I just thought it as the sister really thought he was going to die and basically Kobel was the only person she knew at Lumon and figured if it was some health thing related to his severance they'd be able to save him. A do or die type thing.
Yeah, but why would she think that Cobel would be the better person to tend to him than Reghabi, the person who performed and understands the procedure. Just seems bizarre to ignore Reghabi to the point of driving her away in order to reach out to the person that lied to Devon about her identity in order to spy on her brother. She has no knowledge of Cobel's resentment for being told not to take credit for the severance procedure.

This writing in this has been mostly fantastic, but Devon insisting that she calls Cobel seemed real retarded. If they really wanted to go that route, they should've figured out a way to drive a wedge between Devon and Reghabi prior to involving Cobel. Have Reghabi eventually say "fuck this, I'm out, figure it out yourself" and then you've got Devon in a position where calling Cobel might seem like an appropriate last resort. Not when Reghabi is literally still in the room with you.

Why doesn't she think the woman who medically fucked her brother up, won't say who she is, and won't answer any of her questions is a better option?

Yes. I'm going with the person who knows what is happening to him.

This episode bored me to death.

Slow burn but huge bombshell about severence tech. I really look forward to watching this season back in it’s entirety in a couple months. In this episodes defense, lots of good lore slipped out.

I couldn't be bothered to rewind a bit and figure out what the big reveal at the end was. I looked up from my distraction just as the music got all "omg!" and such, and then saw her talking on the phone to the Scouts. Can you share what the big reveal was in a spoiler TBDW (too boring didn't watch)?

Cobel developed the severance procedure, not Jame Eagan. Lumon had told her not to take credit for it.
Adds a lot more weight to Helena's "you've overestimated your contributions" statement, probably because she's not even aware.

This season has so little of what I liked about the first. This whole episode was from a different show entirely. Most of the previous episode was from a different show entirely.

didn't helena go serverance to prove something she "invented" at lumon or something? like did she also steal cobal credit then?

or did she only go severance to say "look it's safe, even us rich can do it"

Slow burn but huge bombshell about severence tech.

White man industrialist stole super tech from genius teenage girl. Consider the bombs dropped. I INVENTED ALL OF IT. OVERTIME CONTINGENCY! GLASGLOW BLOCK! ALL OF IT. That is one clunky as hell exposition dump. Are you talking to your sister or me the audience? It feels like you're talking to the audience.

This is another episode that doesn't build on the previous so I'm waiting an additional week for the story to move forward. We're not even doing A Plot / B Plot story structure. We're just entirely left hanging. Again. For "I used to huff ether when I was 8 also I had my super invention stolen from me."

I think it was the second reason there, just to prove it is "good and wonderful and the employees love it!" Could be wrong.

Helena did it so the tech would spread around the world since the head of Lumon did it. Was a PR stunt since they could do the Glass Door protocol afterwords anyways, but my guess is that anyone severed anywhere will be able to be secretly controlled by Lumon which is the goal (in my mind fanfiction till proven otherwise)

I think there's a lot of pieces to pick up. More so than the last episode even.

Lumon use it and lose it with Salt's Neck town.
Child Labor and Labor Abuse practices
Weirdo Cultist "Nines" Shit
Kobels mom hated Lumon and Kobel seemingly hated Lumon, was she planning to take them down from the inside or just getting paid to stay mum
The "working at 8" and Miss Huang thing probably related
Kier met his wife at the Ether plant?
Kobel creating the tech and being obsessed with Mark obviously means something. She was keeping tabs on him even beyond Lumon's knowledge.

Also loved the scenery and setting. Apparently Newfoundland and Labrador area. Felt almost like Scandanavia to me, but felt super eerie and you definitely got that "gone and forgotten" feeling from it.

I think Kobel was so interested because she was continuing to experiment on them. She kept introducing him to things his innie (loving next door) or his outtie (Gemma) would know. Then wanted to watch his reactions.

I'm probably just a hater but this season has been terrible. Just waiting for Jacob to make an appearance.

Is this worth the time?

Same thing with the terminal list or whatever, I don't like trying to come back through a thread in case something gets spoiled. I did enjoy that show, and I'm really enjoying yellow jackets right now, but I'm hoping they're going to maybe wrap it up in another season possibly or this one.

I was just wondering whether or not this is worth checking out, or is it going to be one of those stupid shows that could strung along because it makes money? Just tell a goddamn story in a season or two, and let it rest.

The first seasons ends on a bit of a cliffhanger but it tells a complete (enough) story to still be satisfying on its own. Season two has two episodes left and for me it feels like season two of a show with the green light for three. It's just not arranged in the same way and it's not building strong narrative arcs episode to episode. We're really not building to anything for that matter. It's all disjointed second act setup stuff, putting all the pieces in place for a future season.

I'm going to be really unhappy when the last two episodes of the season are suddenly all about plot advancement to conclude on another cliffhanger to then hit the brakes hard at the start of next season so we can fuck about again.

As tempted as I am to watch it with the wife, I might have to do a pass. One of the last show that we watched together was at night sky with JK Simmons, and that got axed after the first season. I just can't stand the stupid streaming stuff dragging out seasons of whatever show even if they're pretty good. But notice that now all of them release their episodes weekly versus dumping them out like Netflix used to.

Got to keep up that stupid subscription, and we'll make certain story is never concluded and you need to resubscribe when the next season comes out.

I'm kind of getting that way with yellow jackets right now, which is probably one of the better says I've watched in a long time.

I did watch Masters of the air recently, and it was exactly what I was hoping for. So goddamn good.
