Thats part of the problem. Maybe its expectations on my part. I thought this was a comedy about a start up in Silicon valley. I expected the show to progress past the 3 dudes in a garage stage. But it seems like its going more sitcom with both the "clusterfuck of the week" and the "magicfix that makes it all better every episode, so we can go back to the default state.

Thats not to say that its formulaic, not yet. I think its probably just the extension from 8 episodes to 10 that has led to a couple of throwaway filler episodes, like they have to slow down the progress, but it is starting to feel that way.

Like they have an arc for the season but with 2 extra episodes they had to throw in some reset progress bs in and it fills kinda weak. I'll reserve judgement until next season but if they are still living on erlichs couch season 3+ then fuck this show. I'll just watch the youtube clips of the funny parts.

They're going over how actually making the shit in Silicon Valley is the easy part. These guys are fantastic coders but they keep fucking up on the business side. If they could just get their product out there it would work and it would be great but the problem is getting the product out there.

What Richard really missed was an opportunity to let Hooli buy PiedPiper. What Gavin and Richard seem to be missing is that they both desperately need one another. If Gavin wants to keep control of Hooli, Nucleus has to be a smashing success, and Richard needs all that Hooli money.

PiedPier really should just get acquired by Hooli at a vastly higher value than Gavin proposed, and the gang should basically replace the Nucleus team.

the comedy value would plummet massively if the team was run away successful. comedy is tragedy plus time.

No one of course wants to see them get shit on every week, but it would get unfunny fast if they went the route of Pied Piper getting their shit together fast. Veep is a perfect example, the characters became wildly successful this season and its the worst season of the show.

I do have to admire the writers (of SV) for trying to balance it all out and not reset everything every season while still making small amounts of progress. The easy way out would be to reset every now and then and the team start another startup, which does happen a lot.

but yeah the resolution they seem to be going for this year is hooli and PP join up somehow.

I wouldn't say that. It's clearly a blip that Selina is President right now, and the meltdown scenes this year have been as good as anything Veep ever produced.

You're good at pointing out reality, but perhaps not as good at writing a compelling TV show.

Im just hoping Russ stays on the show. Does anyone else think that Peter Gregory replacement didnt go over well with the writers so they just cut her out? kinda weird how she just disappeared.

I also had no idea Christopher welch/Peter Gregory was fighting cancer during season 1. Really sucks
