Obviously you are a software developer, because just like episode 9 (I haven't watched 10 yet), you just don't get how fucking stupid they are being. Maybe it's great writing, bunch of engineers can't figure out how stupidly easy it is to fix the platform, where as Monica instantly understands that the UI they built is overly complicated for no reason whatsoever.

All of this nonsense about it's too far ahead of its time and people just don't understand it, is dumb as fuck.

The Pied Piper platform already exists in real life, it's called BitSync. It's a real app, the Show version is just infinitely faster and should be infinitely less complicated to setup than bitsync is, hence it should be miracle next gen everything incorporates that technology now, from netflix twitch facebook amazon to etc etc etc.

Their is no reason to need to explain how it works, the focus groups and all that shit and richard wasting 6 hours trying to explain the math behind it was funny, because it was such a stupid thing an engineer would do because his nerd pride, but dumb as fuck for a CEO to do.

The only thing the platform needs is a stupid UI and it would instantly work and be used by everyone who uses the internet.

The app is just a pied piper icon that loads a library, like itunes or windows media player or anything else. Theres an "Add to library" button with a clean simple icon. The app analyzes the file, determines what it is (jpg, mp3, x264, whatever) and uploads it to the cloud/p2p encrypted distribution/whatever the fuck they use, back end magic.

Since its so fast, the file basically instantly loads to your library, so 1 second after hitting upload, a splash screen appears and says "Congrats, this file is now available on any device running Pied Piper app, enjoy" And like magic, you can pick up any device you have running the pied piper app, desk top, laptop, tablet, smart phone, fuck even your damn pebble smartwatch if they built an app for that, and can now instantly view photos/movies/music/whatever the fuck is in your library.

There's no reason to explain anything at all. There's no reason to have a complex fucking UI choosing every aspect of your compression, bit rate, frames, etc, etc, etc. it was dumb.
Sorry dude, you're wrong. You're the only here who doesn't get it. It's not bad writing at all and it's not about the UI, it's also not an easy fix. The UI is not the issue, and it was never even clued as being the issue. Someone here posted a blown up image of the UI that they never actually even really showed us in the show and you're acting like that was supposed to be the reason the platform is failing. It's not. Get over it.

Yes, there is no reason they should need to explain how it works and the fact that people don't get it is entirely the point of why they can't get daily active users. People don't know where their files are or what this thing even does, let alone why they need it.

It's always the little things and most of the time involving Erlich that make me laugh the most. In this episode it was how he stood up from that lawn chair he was laying in to confront Richard at the very end of the episode.

Bachman getting out of the chair was indeed great. I was a little worried they'd drag on the Erlich/Richard drama too long, was great to have it instantly resolved. Sort of.

Good episode, set up the future well and did a good job of cutting all the serious stuff with humor. They occasionally miss that boat.

Lots of really great stuff in this episode. Probably the best of the season.

Also Erlich made out like a bandit this season. He sold 10% of his shares for like $750k and then bought back 50% of the shares for 1M (+$1.)

It's not the UI, the whole concept is pretty flawed for what they were using it for. It's like the bastard child of TOR and Megaupload, and would have run into the same problems - technically some creepy old pervert is storing his kiddy porn on your mobile, and you are using your mobile data bill to torrent pirate copies of game of thrones to thousands of people. History has shown pretty conclusively that "I only have a little bit of it on there and I didn't even know about it !" doesn't work as an effective defense.

Even if they survived the MPAA and FBI when they got really popular, that particular stink is very hard to wash off.

The encrypted bit storage and p2p sharing aspect that hacker chick added on probably would result in issues true enough, but the platform itself and the compression algorithm? Stupid ui would instantly fix np
